Adobe password reset?

Has anybody else received an email telling them to reset their Adobe password?

It "looks" official, but I just do not remember needing a password to use Adobe Reader - which is all I use of theirs.

Anybody?

If you know a reputable IT geek, you could forward it to him and he could tell you if it is real.

I use Reader on my personal computers and the full-fledged Acrobat on my computer at work. No password required.

Yeah, some weird scam. I don't even know what they'd do with the info since there's no passwords in reader or even Acrobat pro to steal. Probably hoping they can tie you to something else, and figuring the odds on how people use the same password for Windows, Amazon, their bank.. everything.

Just click on the link, and input a bunch of profanity as your "user ID and password". That's what I always do.

And when it takes it and says "thank you", then you know.

Scam. If you don't think you have an Adobe account, you probably don't. The free Adobe products (Reader, Flash, etc.) don't require an account.

Activating their non-free products (Photoshop, Premier, Illustrator,  etc.) require an Adobe account. The scammers probably want access to your license keys, etc., in addition to possibly buying crap from Adobe with your credit card (can't remember if the account retains CC info when you buy product digitally).

Sent the email and headers to Adobe security (phishing@adobe.com) to see what they say.

I do have an account with Adobe.

So this has now perked my interest.

I just tried to log in to my adobe account and it has directed me to the email.

It looks legit.

Went in via Lightroom program and it is legit.

Don't know why you would have received the email without an account. The press release is on their website.

Generally not a good idea to click on strange links.  Bad things can get onto your computer if you visit the wrong sites.  I just delete stuff that isn't legitimate.
