I was just watching Rona McDaniel, the chair of the RNC on Maria Bartiromo's show this morning. McDaniel said that they are suing Google because they found that at this point, nearly all emails the RNC sends out go to Gmail spam folders, or are returned as undeliverable.
My first thought was that it's just spam folders working correctly and google is likely doing this with dem emails as well. However now I'm not so sure. I just checked my own gmail spam folder and while these days I consider NRA emails spam, I realized they used to go to my inbox, but my spam folder was full of NRA emails, including ILA emails. Also, I hadn't noticed it until I looked, but all the update emails that I get from my Republican Congressman are in the spam folder now.
It's certainly not conclusive evidence without knowing if this stuff is going on with "left" entities as well, but it is coincidentally fishy, especially with the midterms right around the corner and Google's history with the 2020 election.

Do you OPEN the emails, or (like most people) do you just "delete" them without opening them?
Consistently deleting emails without opening them from any particular sender can teach the system that everything you get from that sender is spam.
(I still don't trust google, by the way. Nor facebook, twitter, etc.)
-
I wouldn't put it past them to do this, but also Gmail's spam filter sucks. For me it consistently ignores my marking emails "not spam" including my kids' school progress reports. I am still getting NRA related emails. I've also had some random emails mysteriously end up in the trash. I've taken to using Thunderbird to read and store my gmail.

I never open the Wayne emails, but I usually open the ILA emails and ALWAYS open my congressman's emails, now that I have one who represents me.
Also, as I said, there's no real evidence regarding this other than what the RNC said, but Google makes it pretty darn easy to believe it, considering their history.

I get tons of emails trying to get me to give money including to candidates in other states. Most of them either end up in the spam folder or get deleted. I am find with that for the most part. I check and empty my spam folder periodically.

I guarantee they are doing everything they can to subvert “for the cause”.
Anybody who thinks different is a naive moron.

People still use gmail?

For the entities I don't wanna give my proton email to? Yup.

It's not subversion when it's for the cause

I use it as a backup/secondary account.

I've specifically marked e-mails from quite a few Democratic organizations, sources, candidates as spam, but most of them are still delivered to my personal gmail-mail.
I have marked NONE originating from a Republican source as spam, yet most of them are automatically delivered to the spam folder.
Nah. Nothing wrong there at all.

I was thinking about changing internet service providers and switching to gmail. I might have to think about that one.

I just checked my Gmail spam. In a given day, I receive several spam messages about naughty women who want to meet me, my lottery winnings, a free iPhone, drinking toxic water at Camp LeJeune, giftcards, ED medications, and unclaimed bank accounts. All of my political emails across the political spectrum land in my Gmail inbox.

Been using an Outlook.Com email for some time.

Just recently, at work I have received e-mails from companies using gmail accounts.
Nothing says "I am a professional" like using gmail for your corporate e-mail account.

I see that a lot.

Nothing says saving money like letting someone else deal with the e-mail servers and structure, I guess.

I actually get that if you're a small company and not against Google's big brother/privacy policies. But for the email address, for a lousy $6/mo you can get Google workspace and use all their services with your company name, website, and email addresses. If a business can't afford $72/yr to create their own online presence, they might not have the best business model.
I'm not sure if they're still doing it, but before I retired, parts of fed.gov switched everything to Google Government Services. It was actually convenient and an improvement over gov run services for email, calendar, collaboration, etc. Though now that I look at Google in the same way as MomCorp, I'm not sure it's such a great idea.

Oh! I didn't know Google offered that service.
Yeah, I see the concerns now.

Maybe the companues using google for email is doing so for DEI reasons - large companies (particularly those with government sales) are "incentivized" to do business with "diverse" suppliers, and google may fall into that category . . . for its support of D's even if the actual workforce isn't as diverse as some people think.
Several decades ago, my employer dropped American Express for employee business travel and went to a smaller company called Sato, owned by an Oriental woman. Service took a nosedive, but . . . diversity. And the decision makers didn't care about employee travel issues since the company had its own air force for executive travel, a fleet of five Gulfstreams.

Are we surprised?
The common man is NEVER allowed to look behind the curtain... Especially not the common conservative man.
