Oh, THAT Emily.  I didn't know that was your town.

No problem.

The neurosurgeon has told Kathryn to come by tomorrow - there may be an opening in the OR schedule!

The thought of successful intervention that sees her with even a significant reduction in pain (after recovery). . .

Pre-surgical completed today.  Three vertebrae get fused in seven days.

And my delayed anniversary present to her arrived - superb espresso!

. .  and we go forward.

given the nature of her back problems, wouldn't it be more appropriate to buy one of the coffemakers that relies on the little disks?  Wink

She can burn tea.  I kid you not.  Putting our heads together and looking at calenders, she's cooked eleven meals in fifteen years.

She's as uncomfortable alone in the kitchen as she is in being asked to find something in my purse.  Okay, lately it's morphed into a bookbag.

Pod coffee is a little better than Hills Bros, I suppose; and they're gaining in popularity in the highrise office buildings downtown, by her account.

But I've waited on her everyday; making her espresso isn't going to be an added chore of any significance.

The surgery took as few hours longer than anticipated - the discs were a mess and took significantly more time to remove.  The screws, pins and rods are all in, and the incisions look good - six and a half hours, total.

She's doing fine.

Thanks so much.  Here's hoping there's no "Round Eight" for at least a few years!

Just reading that made me cringe. . .

Take care, Antib.

CK - yep: In my case make that fingers & toes every chance I get.  She may have the post-op nausea beaten tonight so tomorrow looks good for her first solid food in a couple of days.  She up to walking about 100' unassisted twice a day and wants to double that tomorrow.

I think I lucked out-I'm able to walk around without agony, which suggests the disk slipped again, instead of ruptured.  I'll know monday.

She's home, and resting.  Now begins the road to recovery and beyond - everybody, thanks so very much.

We are so glad to hear Kathryn had her surgery and is home. And on the road to recovery.
We think of you often and hope to see you again soon.
