I am a bit shocked at that decision. I would have thought he would go with the popular view of the left and bless that sort of thing. Perhaps it isn't so popular outside the US and Britain.

I think that might be it. The Pope is a commie, but he doesn't just serve the US. I can tell you that most of the kraut catholics are very conservative, and I think that goes for much of Europe. The same for South of our border. He might be getting afraid of being tarred and feathered for serving a vocal minority in one country.

Not just south of our border, but the Global South in general is more socially conservative reality based.
