My work around was to download OpenOffice. It is free and can be used to replace or view all the MS Office programs.

The only reason we aren't i the same boat as Europe where it concerns demographic decline in the voter base is due to our high rates of immigration, legal and illegal.

immigration needs to be addressed for sure, after a half dozen (or more) other more important thing IMHO.

1. It is not possible to predict future birth rates (see the dropping birth rates in Muslim countries in the Mediterranean).

2. Civilizations do not only spread vertically but also laterally.

- Demography doesn't show us the exact course of events but it does allow us to recognize  future trends concerning migration. 
- Only under developped populations with a high total fertility rate need to spread and they do it by moving to a more promising place be it for work or crime or sometimes both if illegal. Were they to become higher developped by their own means their
birth rate would drop accordingly.
