Do you have drought down there now?

Grasshoppers multiply in dry weather.

It's still rainy here, which is good because it means that we're not on fire yet.
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

We're still below normal for rain fall but quite a bit better than we have been for the previous 2 years.
As soon as my back straightens out I'm filling my 25 gallon spray rig and going on the offensive, if I have anything left to protect.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Samuel Adams

We had some friends that sprayed the hoppers around the house a few years ago.  Then he had to take the big tractor (he is a rancher/wheat farmer) and plow the dead grasshoppers out of the drive and yard.   :O

Do Hippies eat grasshoppers?

I think it may be possible for hippies to learn - the hard way:
