Everything the left wants. Ban on private party transfers, pre-emptive licensing before ownership of so much as one cartridge, AWB 2.0, manufacturer liability for the actions of consumers, etc.

Surely, they'll be willing to compromise. [barf]

Brought to you by the congressman who didn't want to expand a military base on Guam because he was afraid the island would capsize.
Does anyone have a sense of what chance this bill stands of passing the House?

Probably have a better chance of burying it in the senate.
-
burying it in the senate.
This is exactly what will happen. The house can do whatever, if grim reaper Mitch won't give it the green light then it's dead.
-
They are going to get one, by hook or by crook.

Wasn't that actually a joke? I don't know much about Guam's geology, but it sure sounds like a hyperbolic wisecrack to me.
Maybe the real joke is on us since we keep bandying that one around as if the guy meant it seriously.

See for yourself. Looks more like idiocy that they tried to call a joke afterward.

To quote our Shadow Surgeon General, Joe Biden, "not a joke."
-
Wasn't that actually a joke?
I don't think so, although his staff attempted to portray it as a joke later.
-
Mmmkay. Agreed. Not a joke.

If a joke, that guy has the most deadpan British sense of humor deliveries ever. A possibility... until you listen to some of the other whack stuff he says.

Last time I checked, the Dems don't have a super majority in both houses. And Trump may actually stand up for gun rights.

Really? Bumpstock ban, "take the guns first, go through due process second" mentality?
Claims of exigent emergency is exactly the type of excuse you would "take first, justify later" as he talked about.

He's the only first term president I can think of to stab the 2A community twice, and still somehow be perceived as an ally to it during reelection.
-
All this time I thought his pro-2A kids were setting him straight .....
He's made very pro 2A assertions at his rallies.
I know he did the bumpstock ban .... Is that really a hill we need to die on?
-
He is a piece of crap but better than the alternative again. I hate our system some times.
He is no conservative and we need to find a good third party but that's not happening.
-
Pretty much the main things good he has done is some things with the economy and the trolling of the left. I’m not the biggest fan of him either.
-
While Trump, may, in the interest of the "art of the deal" sell us out on things like bump stocks or suppressors (likely with a "big picture" nod from the NRA), I don't for a second believe he would sell us out on things like "gun and ammo licensing".
IMO, likely from a lack of understanding, he looks at things like bump stocks and suppressors as "accessories" and doesn't look at them at a second amendment issue. The same as many, many gun owners who don't know or care about them. I think he knows what would happen to him politically if he sided in favor of restricting firearms themselves.
-
And the "take it first, due process second" mentality that he has explicitly and overtly endorsed?
ERPO "Red Flag" actions are in the bill I linked. He's 100% allied with that notion. He WANTS that.

I'm with you on Trump & the 2A, but I'm still not sure why you think McConnell would let it get a vote.

Trump is a fudd, but he has not endorsed an AW ban as president... and he has walked back previous endorsements of gun control after his base got mad. He quite clearly doesn't care about gun rights (or gun control for that matter), but doesn't see the sense in antagonizing his base.

In an election year, I really don't think he would sign this. I would be more concerned during a second term. Sucks, but the alternatives are worse.
On the bump stock ban, I wonder if he would have been so quick on that if the NRA had not endorsed the action.
-

He is no conservative and we need to find a good third party but that's not happening.
The problem is as soon as a 3rd party got big enough to matter, it would be populated by many of the same type people.

I wonder if he just deferred any decisions to the relevant agency. It's kind of a touchy subject as to "single pull of the trigger," and to someone who's maybe favorable to 2A but not a complete gun expert, that's a wicket that's a bit sticky.
On the other hand, maybe he was banking on the ban being shot down by the Courts, and it would be off his desk. (And thankfully, off mine, too.)
Me, for right now? Que sera, sera, on that one... if we can put aside the idea that the "enabling" legislation (the NFA and its evil spawn) is as unconstitutional as freakin' hell anyway.
So "Is that really a hill we need to die on?"
Not now, until we get a cleanly conservative Supreme Court where the "Living Documenters" on the Court can be shouted down around SCOTUS' water coolers:
"Jeez, Ruth, why can't you see that they meant what they actually wrote? Now here, lemme buy you a cup of coffee."

*sigh* A bunch of "friends" of mine who are not anti gun, but who've never paid attention to gun politics before are flipping out over this. ;/ I guess the quarantine gives them time to actually pay attention.

Maybe they want to assemble to cheer the bill on.
