Saving Money by Taxing?

I'm a little slow. Can someone explain to me the Democrat's arguments that taxing estates saves money? It creates money for the government, but how does the death tax save money?

The same way that cutting taxes causes unemployment (according to Barbara Lee (D-CA)).
