Consolidate the arms manufacturing base prior to the Revolution.   [popcorn]

Next up:  Colts Manufacturing Company:  Cheyenne, WY. >:D  Draw on some of that Freedom Arms revolver expertise, and I'm sure there's a couple of good boutique 1911 firms in WY somewhere.

I doubt that they would move to WY, probably someplace in the SE US if they move (more labor to draw from, existing manufacturing infrastructure and better transportation infrastructure) Also Scout went into great detail what it would take for a company to up and leave. http://www.armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=38726.msg783771#msg783771

Yeah, I know... the bluing tanks at S&W and Colt and Ruger are a massive EPA liability if those companies ever shut down those locations.

A fella can dream though, right?

I suspect Magpul will move to Wyoming or just north of Denver to allow their existing employees to make the drive.

I suspect you will see some other manufacturers moving in the next year.

I'd love to see this as a new form of political warfare.

Not just on 2A issues.  All freedom issues.

Let the wishy-washy socialist puke corporations go to NY, CA and other scumholes.

Let the lean and mean and efficient companies with principled investors go to "flyover" America.

Then... just wait for a rival stock market to pop up, in Dallas probably.  Trades primarily in the flyover companies.  Decapitate New York.

It's a new age of migration due to persecution.  Instead of being masked in the guise of religion (like the European migration to North America in the 1600's) though, the mask is being pulled back to reveal the ugly face behind it.  It's freedom versus control.  And people are moving to find freedom.

The statists are aware of this trend, and are trying to stop it . . . consider the NLRB's ruling that Boeing couldn't begin operations at it's new plant in South Carolina on the grounds that it was unfair to unions back in Washington state. (Case was eventually dropped when Boeing signed a new contract with the union, which IMHO provided the cover needed for the NLRB to declare victory and back out of what they belatedly realized was a losing position.)

Hence the reason why some governors have been overturning a lot of political apple carts in the last few years with regards to freedoms and economics within their borders.
While this is going on in some states the ratchets seem to be getting a lot tighter in others.

Magpul moving to Cheyenne would make a lot of sense.

This.

AND, then there's the factor of what'll happen when the people follow every last one of these companies for the jobs, then vote in the ways that made the company leave in the first place? Just like the "CA Refugee syndrome" in NV, WA, OR, ID, and CO etc.

Case in point, how much of Colt's workforce is part of the UAW?  :P
I promise not to duck.

Balog,

It was never a well-kept secret that UAW union members work on Colt's assembly lines.

They even went on strike.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt%27s_Manufacturing_Company#1980s.E2.80.931990s

Quote
In 1985, Colt's workers, members of the United Auto Workers went on strike for higher wages. This strike would ultimately last for five years, and was one of the longest running labor strikes in American history.[49] With replacement workers running production, the quality of Colt's firearms began to decline. Dissatisfied with Colt's production, in 1988 the U.S. military awarded the contract for future M16 production to Fabrique Nationale.[50]

Some criticized Colt's range of handgun products in the late 1980s as out of touch with the demands of the market, and their once-vaunted reputation for quality had suffered during the UAW strike. Colt's stable of double-action revolvers and single-action pistols was seen as old-fashioned by a marketplace that was captivated by the new generation of "wondernines" - high-capacity, 9x19mm Parabellum caliber handguns, as typified by the Glock 17. Realizing that the future of the company was at stake, labor and management agreed to end the strike in an arrangement that resulted in Colt being sold to a group of private investors, the State of Connecticut, and the UAW itself.[51]

So are other types of industries

Also Remington and Ruger moved a lot of their unionized production to free states while USRAC languished in Conn.

A lot of unionized labor is represented by unions that have nothing to do with the trade or work they're involved. For instance, the machinists that work for the local seafood processor here are represented by the aerospace union that represents employees at Boeing.

They may also move to a state that will give them some tax forgiveness for a few years for the move. Iowa since we went back to a Republican Governor had been pretty active at attracting companies with 5 and 10 year tax insentives. We even are getting a rival to the Koch brothers fertilizer division which should cause a price decrease in ag fertilizers. This is just one example. Maybe Magpul will come to Iowa.

Land is cheap in central FL. Thet would put Adams Arms, Spikes and Magpul all less then 2 hrs apart. (and less then about 1.5hrs from my house =D)

One can only imagine the awsome that would engender.
