Will & Grace really did educate Americans. Or mis-educate them.

The Atlantic reports on Gallup polling that finds most Americans overestimate the homosexual population by a factor of about ten. While the true percentage is something like 2%, many Americans estimate 25%. I'm guessing they've seen too much Glee. (But haven't we all?)
Oh, and here's the Joe Biden bit, if anyone missed it.

I haven't seen any of that show. And yes, that is still too much.
I worked with an uber-lib in Tucson that honestly though 1 person in 5 was homosexual. Based on my personal knowlegde of "out" gays vs. obviously hetero people, I'd say 2-3% is believable. Even 5% would be pushing it. Most (more or less credible) estimates give the numbers as 3-5% of men, and 1-3% of women.
