"Your loved ones died quick. Didn't feel a thing." is a lie that was probably old when the Roman Legions said it to grieving widows.

What else can you do?

I never heard that story before.  My screen has suddenly become blurry.

if they could hear them in there for that long, they should have been reachable. At least it sure seems like it.

Lot of things working against them like was mentioned in the article, such as risk of explosion or flooding the rest of the ship and losing it altogether.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Plus, the technology we have that might have made such a rescue possible today did not exist in 1941.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

I wonder if it would be a breach of diplomacy to subject the current Japanese PM to those conditions when he visits Pearl in a few weeks. Or he could apologize..

Well it's over, Abe didn't apologize. I wonder if Obama apologized privately for the unfortunate loss of the brave IJN pilots who were only doing their patriotic duty.

Neither the Japanese PM nor Obama should apologize for WWII.  That all happened well before their time and neither of them is responsible in any way.

I agree. To me that's no different from BLM suggesting that I should pay reparations to current blacks because of slavery. Sorry, I don't own any slaves, my parents didn't own any slaves, my grandparents didn't own any slaves. I don't "owe" any reparations to anybody.
