It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Who the hell keeps electing her? Do those people like being the laughingstock of the country?

I think her people only think about 24 hours into the future.

It's two different processes at work.

1. Some of her constituency is actually as dumb/ignorant as she is.

2. Some of her constituency knows what a train-wreck she is, and likes electing her as sort of a protest-vote to thumb their nose at "white America" who is repressing them etc.

Back when Marion Barry was getting re-elected as mayor of D.C. even after winding up on FBI video tape doing crack with a hooker, I had some people who had "feet in both worlds" so to speak explain this to me.
I promise not to duck.

I submit for your consideration the honorable Cynthia McKinney.  Makes Sheila seem like Margaret Thatcher.

How good is she at bringing home the pork? Also look at Kennedy, killed a woman and died in his senate seat.

To answer your question, she represents a very high percentage Democrat district that was gerrymandered for her predecessor years ago.  No matter how bad she is or how good her opponents are, she won't be kicked until she leaves or they redistrict her.  Personally, I think they will leave her voters where they are.  She is setting such a great example to the rest of Texas and the Nation of why we shouldn't vote Democrat.
