Mad with power they told me....
« on: September 13, 2006, 02:29:14 PM »
Great news all

As of today I am the Jr. Chairperson of an ethics committee at a prestigious law school.
Finally I can pass substantive judgment on my fellow man.

The tasks of the position are writing the rules of student conduct, interpreting the rules of student conduct& and my favorite: passing judgment on those who fail to abide by them.  Judgment ranges from write a letter of apology to part time or full banishment. Entry into the legal profession has a moral component (HA), which gives leeway for such seemingly extreme punishments.  By decree of the committee, which I shall chair, actions in violation of the student codes of conduct can be deemed as indicative of moral turpitude.

:edit: Great news all --> Great news some

So what you're saying is you now have the power to destroy a fellow student's chosen career just because he or she behaves in a manner not consistent with what you and a few others believe is appropos!

How delightful...

Now fistful... name calling doesn't at all seem consistent with our established code of conduct.  See section 14 subsection 8 part 3 (b).  You should think about what you've done, write an open letter of apology, and curtsey before the Grand Council! Yes...

I am definatly getting myself a gavel.  Makes the grand high old pronouncements of the head high muckety muck seem that much more officiol. And more Latin... LATIN!

Sorry, cosine, but you're going to have to rotate in.  That was all the disparaging Latin I know - unless "Ecce homo" counts.  Smiley

Well, it just means "Behold, the man," but I thought calling you a homo might come off as an insult, jokingly.

I just thought of a better one, though.

Hard to argue against the 'seeking'... But I like to call it Justice Smiley

But if my ex-housemates ever are presented before the glorious tribunal I shall simply excuse myself... after giving sufficient influence to gain my ends of course.  I think it hard to argue that those SOBs are not the very embodyment of moral turpitude that our great student conduct code warns about.
