According to the VA, I am now rehabilitated.

Went into the hospital with complications of CHF the week before Thanksgiving.  Then at a rehab facility till I was released this afternoon.

BTW, if anybody uses the word diuresis at you as the suggested course of treatment, hit them very hard, and continue doing so until they understand you do not favor that course of care.  It would have been easier on everyone, and faster, if they had just stuck a spigot in me and had done with it.

I'm still not svelt but I am ~75 pounds lighter.  Yes, 75!

Anyhow, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Lasix FTW !!!


Yep, when my kidney's were failing I was taking lots of Lasix several times a day.  Seems I would have to go again just a soon as I had walked out of the bathroom.  Sometimes while going, it felt like it would never end.

I lost 90 lbs in a little over a month when they had me on it.   Great stuff.

Did they find a cause for your edema?  You can PM with any questions about Peritoneal Dialysis which I recommend.  If you do end up going to Hemo, get a Fistula installed in the upper part of your non-dominate arm.   Might want to have them do both (Install the PD catheter and the Fistula) at the same time while you are under.

Flat on my back, IV lasix, foley, and the bastiges lost my compression stockings the first night.  Nobody seemed to care.  Lungs were clear as a bell, if by that you mean the sound of the commode flushing.   My legs now look like Popeye's.  See the PCP Tuesday and the first thing I'm expecting him to do is refer me for cellulitis treatment.

But enough of me.  What threads should I read first?  Who broke up with whom?  Did anybody resolve their pressing personal dilemma?
