I'm also a bit perplexed - and somehow I may be missing it in the news - that more people are not making the obvious distinction that no one is being held against their will. They can travel South, then go anywhere else in the whole damn world. Or try to, anyway. If I attempt to sneak into any other country, including "enlightened" ones like Canada, they may simply tell me to leave of my own free will. If I don't though, I'm going to whatever serves as a jail in that particular country, not a hotel room. Some countries of course, may be much less... pleasant.
The overwhelming percentage of Americans aren’t really paying any attention to this.
They aren’t even paying attention when they’re watching/listening to the news.
It’s background noise to most folks.
If you watch the news and break the stories down, examine the premises and assumptions inherent in almost all news you’d realize it’s almost all incoherent nonsense.
It’s not written for those who examine the news like that though.
It’s written to enforce the narrative. It doesn’t need to be true, coherent or well written.
All it needs to do is use key words, phrases and properly frame the issues so you believe what the powers that be want you to believe.
Background noise to program the easily suggestible heads full of mush.
It’s all propaganda.
