A police officer and firearms instructor in Port Canaveral Florida was fired over some "Trayvon Martin targets." He says their intended use was as no-shoot targets for training.

He should have said they were going to be used to simulate a perp on top, choking situation.

As I have said elsewhere, this is dumb. These targets are in piss poor taste. That said, these do NOT warrant firing the officer in question. At worst, he should have gotten a warning.

I agree that the targets are in terrible taste. Assuming the officer is telling the truth about his intended use for them, one still has to question his decision to buy them. He could have made his own.

Bad taste and bad judgement. Not as bad as "I put my kids' photo on 'no-shoot' targets," though. Not firing offense material, more a dressing down by an older/wiser cop is deserved.
