The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now prohibits firearms and other deadly weapons on church property. I'm not a Mormon, so that may explain why I find it inexplicable that in a time when other denominations are looking to arm themselves in the face of multiple mass shootings in houses of worship, this entire denomination is formally taking a head-in-the-sand approach and pretending that not allowing parishioners to carry guns is somehow going to keep the faithful safe. This is the sort of magickal thinking I usually associate with politicians.
-
The Mormans have something of a history of being violently attacked due to their beliefs.
It boggles my mind that they think that somehow that is no longer a possibility.
My guess is that there will be an attack on one of their gun free safe spaces sooner rather later.
-
Right up there with rabidly anti 2A Jews. It makes no sense.
-
This is exactly what I meant when I said the church's hierarchy has been completely infiltrated same as the roman catholic church.
The last genuine leader was Ezra Taft Benson.

Funny how nearly every hierarchy in society gets converged and works against the very people the organization was founded to serve.
Governments, churches, corporations, charities ...
So many end up ignoring or worse yet preying upon their own.

Mormon, not Morman.

They're also known for occasionally instigating attacks:

Apologies. OP corrected.
Although the powers that be have now stated that they no longer want the church to be known or referred to as "Mormon" (even if it's spelled correctly).

Latter Day Saints and intelligence services mix real well from what I gather.

I just drove past Nauvoo last week, no time to stop. Did they forget that or why someone like Porter Rockwell seemed necessary?

One of the 12 Apostles of the Church of Latter Day Saints, or whatever it is, is a guy named Dallin Oaks...
His granddaughter was my next door neighbor for several years.
I got the impression from her that he was extremely conservative and old line. I wonder how he feels about this.

I'd like to hear from Larry Corriea or George Hill about this.

Or Marnoot.

Never knew we had any resident Mormons, even better.

Because I’m Mormon and a gun nut, I had a lot of people ask me about the news articles that were going around saying the church had banned guns from church buildings. It’s a stupid policy, but not new. They just updated the general handbook (that’s like the binder for how to run a ward). They’ve already banned guns from church buildings since back when I was teaching CCW ten years ago. A multitude of us ignore it and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. The handbook also says I’m not supposed to use foul language, and you can see how well that has stuck.

What's the quote about if an organization isn't specifically right wing, it will eventually become left wing?

That's brilliant. Thanks for the link, I need to check MHN more often.

I haven't seen that movie in a while. Forgot about that scene.
And if you can't approach serious subjects with humor, you are taking it too seriously. I find it helps me think a little clearer sometimes. Washes out some of the emotion.

But in the spirit of bipartisan fairness, exactly one week ago I got screeched at by people on the right because I said if you are an American and any politician says they “Hereby Command” you to do anything, whether you agree with them or not, your response had better be a reflexive F___ Off or you are a sorry excuse for an American and need to quit being such a #*#*#.
I like that.

The Tx open carry guy is upset with it, i think in Tx its unlawful to carry if the Church says "no".
( i don't know Tx law tho ).
In NV, its only a tresspass misdo, so most ccw ignore signs.

Lousy video. He could (and should) have said everything he needed to say in five minutes. His diatribe was so disjointed that I had to quit after nine minutes or rambling, unfocused verbal diarrhea.
