Obama Slams "Corporate Takeover of Our Democracy"
« on: August 22, 2010, 11:12:21 AM »
I don't know why this matters to him, since he's buying up corporations. I was pleased to see at least one commenter pointed out that we are a Representative Republic, not a Democracy. Too bad the President doesn't know that.

Because people making money are the real problem in our democracy representative republic not-so-representative republic.  ;/

Perhaps Mr. Obama could explain how the universe could be arranged such that money does not equal power.  =|

I guess having George Soros take over our "democracy" is better.

And here I thought government meddling was the major problem. Thanks for setting me straight, Mr. President!

Remember: Obama and his friends believe that if democracy doesn't achieve progress as they see it, the democracy is 'broken'.

Who got the most money ever from BP again?
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Come January 1st, corporate profits given to shareholders will top out at slightly over 60% in total taxes.

Look, only corporations that own newspapers and television companies have the right to political speech! We can't let the corps. talk, it would dilute the important messages that the shadowily funded 527s have to get out to us.

He's got that arse backwards.

He's a Democrat.  Ever since Nast gave the two parties their animal spirits, every Democrat has been one.  And lately, they've been, um, arse-backwards.

I was say it should be "Big Government Financed Corporate takeover of our Democracy".  They wouldn't be able to do it without the govt bailing them out.  Especially since we are a republic, not a democracy.
