Space, that is. Pretty cool. He will be the oldest person ever to go to space.

really awesome!

“I … want to thank every Amazon employee, and every Amazon customer, because you guys paid for all this,” Bezos told reporters after returning from the trip. “So seriously, for every Amazon customer out there, and every Amazon employee, thank you from the bottom of my heart, very much. It’s very appreciated.”
Why do I think Amazon employees would feel much more appreciated if they weren't subjected to inhumane working conditions?
-
And from what I hear from the ones here in St. Louis, they're getting paid pretty well for performance.
-
There's a fulfilment center not far from me. Word in the courthouse hallways is that the meth available in the parking lot is pharmaceutical grade, and the hookers have most of their own teeth.
Jokes aside, I'll admit that I am envious. This crew that did the three days...if I could afford it, I'd go. In my youth, I had aspirations of being an astronaut. Higher math classes proved...problematic.

As long as they don't stop to pee they can do OK is what I have heard. ;)

Every shop, there's always someone who thinks that he's gonna get paid for spending half the shift in the shiiter.

I’m thinking you read too many propaganda articles (haven’t been news articles in years). Lately they’ve been on an anti Amazon push just like Walmart was the focus 15-20 years ago.
I think the main crime Amazon is committing is requiring their employees to work. Every “news” article I’ve seen so far has been short on fact and long on emotional bullshit with lots of subtle commie crap. Right now the unions are really trying to get their hooks into Amazon and then their close allies in the propaganda corps is all about helping that along.
You want some bad working conditions I’ll show you them. They are a lot worse than a climate controlled warehouse where you are out of the rain, snow, and beating sun and you aren’t having *expletive deleted*it fall all on you. But curiously the news articles aren’t rushing to cover those kinds of jobs.
Also I hope the news articles keep bitching and Amazon replaces most of these no skill jobs with real automated order pickers like are in some other warehouses. I saw ones in the Cat warehouses where they speed along tracks, pull the bin, bring it to the shipper guy to put them into a box, and return the bin a lot faster than a human, and they can’t whine to the right press about having to do a job.

I was on the engineering team overseeing the construction of one of those automated warehouses -- for a train maintenance facility. The warehouse is eight or ten stories high and the whole thing is run by computers, delivering parts to an order desk in another building. Except if/when maintenance is needed, there are no humans in the warehouse.

Bill should hold out for a Crew Dragon ride. Why go to space for 5 minutes when you can go for 3 days?

Well he is 90.
-
Well he is 90.
That's what I was figuring. Otherwise I would agree with kgb about taking the better ride. At 90, he probably figures just getting to "official" space is an accomplishment. =)

Well yeah, but do you guys really expect me to pass up an opportunity to cast shade on Jeff Who's Blown Orifice? >:D

The women at least. Maybe the men can wear pointy ears

He's 90. BO better hope he don't stroke out. That would be some bad bad PR

I went to youtube to watch the launch on Blue Origin's channel and I am greeted with "Video unavailable
This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated."
Ha!

I'm wishing him all the best, but if I were 90 year old Bill Shatner, I think dying at apogee would be way cooler than dying in bed.

Great for Bill but bad for Jeff*
*Not that I really give a *expletive deleted*it about Jeff though.
-
The sucking up to Jeff is killing me.
-
Case in point.
No Jeff is not an experienced astronaut [barf]
-
Let's go Brandon, whoops I mean Shatner

Launch

You mean penis launch.
-
You mean penis launch.
I was resisting the urge to refer to it as that this time.
-
It would have been great if Shatner had been able to fly on a SpaceX Crew Dragon to orbit. Three or four days actually in space would have meant much more.

I agree, but Musk being a younger guy than Bezos, he is probably more of a fan of Pickard and fake Star Trek than Kirk and real Star Trek.
-
I wonder why everyone but Shatner was wearing a red shirt?
-
It seems Shatner has been very moved by the experience. He is having great difficulty expressing how profound the experience was for him. I hope to hear more from him after he's had time to process things.

Flying on the dick rocket, what a way for James T. Kirk to go. (I always thought T. stood for Tomcat. Or should.)

All right everyone, line up for your Space Herpes tests. You Green Girl, you're first.

Those fancy liquid fuel multi stage reusable rockets are expensive.
Anyone that doesn't want to spend millions can explore the cheaper alternatives:

I was wondering why nobody had commented earlier about the "shape" of that rocket !

Mr. Sulu is not amused:
https://bbc-edition.com/space/2021/10/15/george-takei-says-william-shatner-is-not-the-fittest-specimen-for-space-travel-a-guinea-pig/
"So 90 years old is going to show a great deal more on the wear and tear on the human body, so he’ll be a good specimen to study. Although he’s not the fittest specimen of 90 years old, so he’ll be a specimen that’s unfit!” he [Takei] added.
I think he's just jealous that Shatner got to ride on a giant dick and not him.

Takei has had a feud going on with Shatner for decades, and it seems to be unilateral. If anyone knows why, I haven't read about it.

"Shut up, Sulu."

Mr. Sulu should just go back to playing with his sword.

Man, Sulu is one bitter old woman.

I thought that had already been beat to death in another thread.
Oh wait, bad bad pun.

Bezos is an insensitive jerk.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GQoHIBDogU
Shatner's wife died from alcoholism. Shatner was waxing profound on the Overview Effect and how he felt, and Bezos felt a need to get his Spring Break on in the middle of it, and you can tell that Shatner was unimpressed by the lack of class.

It was really obvious that Shatner was put off by Bezos' behavior. He had just experienced an amazing once-in-a-lifetime event that he wanted to share with everyone, and Bezos thought it more important spritz champagne over everyone. Shatner actually turned away and looked at the ground for a bit, and it was apparent he was upset at Bezos rudeness.

Seriously wish Shatner had flown Virgin Galactic instead of Jeff's Penis Rides
-
At his age he might not have time to be choosey.

William Shatner
@WilliamShatner
Don’t hate George. The only time he gets press is when he talks bad about me. He claims 50+ years ago I took away a camera angle that denied him 30 more seconds of prime time TV. 🤷🏼♂️ I’m giving it back to him now by letting him spew his hatred for the world to see!🤣 Bill the 🐷

Forgot about his space thing what with Musk and Bezos getting the spotlight. What's been going on with it?
-
Looks like the Shatner-Takai feud is still going strong...
Sulu threw some shade at the Shatman, proving once again that being a whiny little bitch is no impediment to being a starship navigator... on TV...

Shat's response is pretty fun...

That was the first thing my wife said when she saw the rocket.
Now the question is if she has an "appliance" in that shape too.
