I have for decades enjoyed the mortgage interest write-off.

Is this another one of those people claiming that getting a break on taxes is equivalent to a subsidy?  ;/

"free"? they mean after we already paid for it in taxes?
Or do they mean "free", as in, we don't have the money but we mortgaged your children's future for it?
Or do they mean "free", as in, we used government power to convey a monopoly to favored parties to jack the price of service to the point where you can't afford it without our "free" subsidy?

I'd settle for FREE, as in, get out of my life, let me conduct my affairs as I see fit, and leave me the @#$K alone. For a long time I thought I could just pay my taxes, essentially pay the extortion so they would go away, but now, now they have to meddle in everything I do as well.

Mortgage write off is not "free".  I just pay fewer taxes and end up getting a couple hundred dollars back out of the much higher amount I pay in actual "income taxes".  That doesn't count the other taxes on my income.

Liberals who want higher taxes love to throw crap like that around.  They change the definitions of terms to fit whatever point they want to make.

A write off is not free *expletive deleted*it, its just a few dollars that isn'taken from you- at the threat of the loss of your personal freedom or life amd limb.

A politician who asks "how are we going to pay for a tax break (or deduction)" will never get my vote or support.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

THIS
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.
