When I was in Raton, New Mexico back in the early 1990s for some matches at the Whittington Center I ate breakfast at a local restaurant.

I ordered the Southwest platter, or something like that.

Holy freaking frack it was a MASSIVE amount of food...

Breakfast burrito, breakfast tacos, beans, scrambled eggs, sausage, and some other stuff.

It was incredible.

Seem to recall trying it and it was nasty. Taco Bell can screw up almost anything.

Lots of variations, sometimes different condiments & seasonings, but for a basic breakfast taco think scrambled eggs and sausage, bacon, or ham wrapped in a tortilla. Potatoes and cheese are also frequent ingredients. Some places they're really good, other places they're just plain nasty. Unlike lunch tacos - which can be either soft or crunchy shell - I've never seen anything but soft shell for breakfast tacos.

Yeah, I think it is pretty much the same thing.  A local Stripes gas station has a breakfast bar.  Make fresh soft tortillas on the grill and make them to order.  I usually just get eggs, bacon, and potatoes (cubes there).  They have all sort of combinations in addition to beans and cheese along with stuff I am not familiar with.

To me it is just a nice alternative to a breakfast sandwich and hash browns.  They can get pretty big and there are lots of small Mexican restaurants around that sell them.
