The early season mosquitoes in Alaska were huge, but they were also slow moving and you could see them coming and slap them.
Later in the summer, there were billions of tiny ones that drive you crazy. When I was working in the woods, I gassed and oiled my saw as fast as I could to get in running again because that kept them away. No breaks at all until I could get back to the pickup and shoot down all the ones that got through the door with OFF or something.
