“Open-Carry Walk” at Ohio State

https://www.thelantern.com/2018/09/open-carry-walk-stirs-dialogue-promotes-conversation-around-guns-on-campus/

Quote
On Friday afternoon, a small crowd of activists assembled in the parking lot of Ohio Stadium. Clad in black and camouflage, all with pistols or AR-15s at their hips and one waving a large Pan-African flag, the small group walked to the Oval where they stood and engaged with passersby in a dialogue about gun regulation in America.

This was an interesting link I saw.  A bit different optics than the usual open carry demonstrations I have seen pictures of.

How do you shrink an image?

Get a mod to do it.
Add "width=xxx" to the image tag 400-500 is usually pretty good.  I did 600 for yours.

Notice they are mostly dressed normally as well. Also they look friendly versus, "I've got a gun, so what?!?" Those Texas numbskulls could take a lesson from them.

One of the first comments I saw at the bottom was a message of support from an Open Carry Texas person.  Those guys need some help, but I don't think they are the worst.  Note people in other states walking into police stations and the guys in the Northwest with rifles held across the chest.

If nothing else, Open Carry Texas allows the TSRA to walk in and say "Deal with us or deal with them."

I am more concerned with the sign to the rear of the gun toters. Porn Free Weekend dot com. What kind of insanity is that? College kids not watching porn on the weekend, what will they do? Actually go out and interact with other humans on a personal level, I doubt it. They will sit in the corner of their dorm room sobbing silently just waiting until they can reconnect with porn hub. Porn free weekend my rear end. I don't see it happening. BTW, don't they have any white friends that could join them. ;)

I don't think whites were welcome. Did you miss the part about the Pan-African flag?

But, diversity and inclusion........ and my white brothers from South Africa, the seat of the Pan-African Parliament. Don't their voices matter? But you are correct, Pan-African only refer to other peoples of African descent.

Honestly, so long as they're promoting gun rights for all, I don't care if their march was "exclusionary of other races": in fact, I kinda welcome that idea. It helps remove some of the race-baiting from the discussion (also: a similar group of differeing race could "show up to support/encourage").

What was that about a pearl handled revolver and someone from New Orleans again?

My thought also.  It isn't just old white guys.

Big Media like to complain about the scary whiteness of conservative gatherings, so I only assume they were just as offended by this.

Agreed. Take race and gender out of 2A politics.  It's good to see something other than a bunch of rednecks or militia wanna-be types.  And the smiling is nice.

The one time I participated in an open carry march, I had a fairly long conversation with one of the other guys. Told him about my suggestion for the "Full Faith and Credit Act": a bill that would require all states to recognize both marriage licenses and CCWs from all other states. He thought it would be awesome, as neither side could fully endorse it, nor really do anything to block it...

Yup.

If they'd have pushed this on Ohioans for CCW I'd have tried to make the rally.  Some actual diversity at one of these events would be positive.   That being said, I'm not an open carry advocate,  but I do love how the marches give idiots the vapors.

I actually participated in a couple of marches in Olympia.  I felt that a middle-aged bald white guy in a suit, bow tie, and carrying a briefcase provided a positive visual alternative to the neckbeards in black trench coats carrying AR-15s.

That was you!!!!  =D

I have been over there a few times for those things.

I would welcome diversity at our rallies in Spokane, when the white population is approaching 85% it is hard to get other than old, young, fat, bald, neckbeard types out. I would like to see something else, even the wimmens. :)

Not a fan of the pan African BS, but it's America, everyone is allowed to have an idiotic opinion. Other than that, way better image than Duster McTactical and if those people stay in the gun world I'll bet they get a lot more friendly to all kinds of kinds.

One exception. I see a red bandanna at the range and you better be a Blood, we can get along. Redneck Revolt types I can only see as terrorists.

I thought he wore a string tie. Are you thinking of Orville Redenbacher?

He wore a string bow tie.

A string bow tie has "tails" than hang down from the bow.

Colonel Sanders wasn't bald, either.
