Sweden Democrats now biggest party in opinion polls
« on: January 23, 2016, 04:07:50 AM »
Latest YouGov polls came in yesterday or so. Sweden Democrats is now the biggest political party in Sweden with 28.8% of the votes, followed by the Social Democrats at 21.6%, and the Moderates coming in at 21.4%. YouGov has repeatedly shown that their numbers are the closest to actual election results, so I believe the numbers to be quite accurate. Worth noting is that the Sweden Democrats and the Moderates together have 50.2% of the votes here. Sweden Democratic party leader Jimmie Ã…kesson invited the Moderates to form a government with him should election results coincide with opinion polls in case the government is toppled and a snap election is announced. He said that they were "willing to negotiate and do a bit of compromising" (paraphrased).

Now we'll see what the Moderates reply with. There's quite likely a lot of popular support among the ranks of them for approaching the Sweden Democrats.
