Cooling for Me But Not for Thee
« on: June 27, 2012, 09:20:15 PM »
In honor of the "GD It's Hot" thread, I give you Mayor Bloomberg's solution to getting around his "three minute idle" law in NYC. You see, the Mayor can't stand getting into a hot car after he's left an air conditioned building. The solution his people came up with is rather comical.

Hey, at least the outside is color coordinated with the vehicle.

Wait. Wait. Give me a second, here.

You people are telling me that New York City has a law that a person cannot let their car run in idle for more than three minutes? This is not a joke?

California has the same.

I love human nature (at least in certain areas). The hypocrisy, the need to control even the most minor of things, and the desire to be a king.

Why the heck can't folks mind their own business?

Let me play devil's advocate for a moment:

Letting an SUV run for hours is really small small potatoes compared to flying private jets around the world for global warming summits.

Heretic, don't you dare question....You should be burned at the stake for asking that question....after you buy the appropriate amount of carbon offset credits for your body.    :P :-*

dc has same law i believe
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

A lot of places have that law. A few months ago, in one of the cities up-state, a grammar school student made headlines for pointing out to the school district that they were violating the law by keeping the school buses idling while they were lined up in front of the building waiting for school to let out.

I think even the city I work in has that law too, but for different reasons: the temptation to steal an idling vehicle is way to much for some people to overcome.
