Yeah, so CNN couldn't resist injecting some anti-gun propaganda into the article:

Quote
The Kalashnikov USA brand is owned by RWC in Pennsylvania. The company's slogan is, "Russian heritage, American innovation."

Related: This is how easy it is to buy guns in America

The company was established by the original, Moscow-based Kalashnikov Concern to export its guns into the U.S. But that plan was stymied by President Obama's anti-Russian sanctions, to punish Russian businesses for President Putin's war in Ukraine.

The first comment on the embedded article is good, though.

Well, I guess that's good news anyhow, I guess.

But boy, "they" are sure pushing their anti-gun junk at every "street corner," aren't they?

Eh....

There's been plenty of U.S. made AK's. And this isn't really "Kalashnikov", there's not much real DNA there other than this U.S. company licensed the name from Russia.
I promise not to duck.

I read that article, too. It parrots the gun show loop-hole fallacy, and expresses shock that the NICS doesn't prohibit racists from buying firearms.

Looking at the picture on the link, I have really never liked AR stocks on AK's.  It just doesn't fit to me.

I note there are no MSRPs at the manufacturer's website. That doesn't bode well.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

There are several options that are similarly priced to WASR rifles.  However, I have heard comments that Century quality is not quite as bad as it used to be.

Would like a decent AK on general principle.

Not sure if I would go traditional or want it chambered in 5.56NATO.  Milsurp 7.62x39 doesn;t seem as cheap as it used to be.

Practicality and cost issues aside, a western capitalist adaptation which coopts an iconic symbol of Soviet communism and gives it a rigid digit salute, or keeps rubles out of the pockets of Vlad the Invader and his cronies (albeit indirectly) sharpens the edges of my obsidian heart. >:D
