There is now snow on the asphalt.

We are all.

Going.

To Die.
I shall not die alone, alone, but kin to all the powers,
As merry as the ancient sun and fighting like the flowers.

45? And I thought So Cal people were wimps!  :P  =D

It's 47 here now and I'm about to go out in a short sleeve polo. If I put a jacket on, I'd be burning up. That's like a perfect temperature. But then my dad tells me there's something wrong with me, and that I should move to Alaska.

I believe it was standard practice for most northern communities "back in the day."

When we lived in a small town in western Colorado, the city almost never plowed anything exept the two main streets/highways.

But come trash day, they would run a grader or something down the alley so the trash truck could get through, regardless of the fact that a trash truck is heavy enough even empty to barge through several feet of snow.  Of course, this left huge berms blocking alley driveways and garages.

The residential streets would build up until by spring there was sometimes 18" of hard pack and/or ice.  The water used to run off the street and into my front walk that I kept shoveled.  A small car could not get around at all in the afternoons because it would simply fall through the melting mush and get high centered.

New York City still has garbage trucks with snow plows.

Milwaukee and surrounding burbs with municipal trash collection outfit all the garbage trucks, and dump trucks as plows.
I promise not to duck.

We are something like 16-17 inches of rain less than typically received in a Seattle winter.
Our average precipitation here in Southern Colorado is less than 12" a year.  Two years ago it was under 3".

And then there was last September ...

You guys got 100 years precipitation in one month  :P

Dump trucks with plows here, dump trucks have a salt/sand spreader in the rear.

Look like these, can plow two lanes at once, Yankees don't screw around.

You got a single lane highway? So who yields to whom when you meet head on traveling down the road?

I suppose that you would yield to the snow plow in the wrong lane.  ;/

Actually, our county road is essentially single lane in places.  And the lanes of the nearest 2-lane highway are probably narrower than that main blade  =|

I got stuck behind a *expletive deleted*ing snow plow this morning (one of the dump truck kinds with salt spreader stuck on the back, but not giant sized like the one posted)
So instead of being only 10 minutes late for work, I was 20 minutes late for work. *grrr*

Didn't need no stinking plow. The roads were fine. Were was the stinking plow LAST week, when I played slip and slide on the way to work? Huh?

I hate this stupid stupid county and their crack smoking person in charge of clearing the roads.

Bitch, bitch, bitch, whine, whine, whine... *Sigh*

Here's how much snow we're expected to get between now and Wednesday:

I'm pickin' up (in regards to Algore) what yer throwin' down!   I"m three counties east of Benton Harlem, hope we don't get nailed. If we do, at least I got the snowblower running again.
