Title: Audio/Video camera thoughts
Post by: castle key on December 04, 2018, 06:05:46 PM
My wife wants to equip an exercise studio so that she can receive off site instruction by video. Clearly she needs a TV set to see her instructor, but she needs two way interaction.

She would need a camera system that also has audio, and probably several cameras, that would "interact" through the video feed seen on the TV.

When I told her that the porn industry seems to do this well, she wasn't impressed.

Any thoughts on how to make this work? Products?

How... did... you... know?

She asked.

And that's when the fight started, your Honor.

Skype via Xbox with a Kinect module. Seriously.

For what a new video camera will cost you can source a decent Xbox One (or even a One S) with a Kinect module on Craigslist. Load the Skype app and you're pretty much done.

An alternate is to use a laptop connected to your TV. Laptop's cameral/mic for A/V out. TV for the incoming signal.

Are you equipping the instructor too?  If not, shouldn't you find out what they support?
