Just found out that one of our local gunshop employees was stabbed to death yesterday evening.
I didn't know Wayne very well, but I
did know him. He's worked at Freds about forever. Nice guy, kind of quiet and very likeable. The worst part is that the guy who stabbed him was not only the guy who did the gunsmithing, he's also the owner's (Fred's) son-in-law!
Terrible, and a horrible shock to the gun community here. Even if you didn't know Wayne personally you at least knew who he was.

Man Fatally Stabbed at a Lubbock Gun Shop
In a Lubbock store that sells guns, it was a knife that was used to kill a man.
Police were called to Fred's Gun Emporium at 3003 Slide around 5:45 p.m. Thursday night. When they arrived, they found 66-year-old Wayne Knox with a stab wound to the stomach. EMS took Knox to a local hospital where he died.
Detectives say an employee of the gun shop got into an argument with Knox. Police called Knox a visitor and not a customer as the stabbing apparently happened in an office. However, sources tell NewsChannel 11 both men were employees of the store.
Police are still questioning that employee but have not arrested or charged him. Police say they'll be looking into this case for a few days.
Lt. Scott Hudgens says, "The investigators are still talking to witnesses and people in the store. They are trying to figure out exactly what happened."
We're told several people were inside the store at the time of the stabbing because they were taking a concealed weapons class.
