Who else is working the Holiday?
« on: November 27, 2008, 06:18:43 PM »
I'm working my normal 1030 - 2300 shift today. We're a 24/7/365 organization, so somebody has to do it. I figured I could use the holiday pay.

I had planned to visit family, but decided to work on my website instead. I'm hoping to grab as many of the after-Thanksgiving buyers as I can.

Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day are the only three days we are closed...

Every other holiday, we are open (and of course, I usually get to pull that duty)

I bestirred myself at 4:00 this morning, visited a few web sites, and resumed proofreading well before daybreak. About midway through the day, I remembered finishing my first novel Thanksgiving Day, 1969. Mad all along, I suppose.

Yep, we're 24/7/365 also.   In fact, I haven't had a day off since Nov 7th. :O   Won't get one until Dec 5th.  The paychecks are nice, but stretches like this really take a toll on me.

Not anymore, but I feel your pain.  14 of the last 16 years I worked holidays and weekends.

Well, I was actually off yesterday, miracle of miracles (first Thanksgiving off in YEARS), but I had to go to bed early to get up for my regularly-scheduled 5A-5P shift today.

Flew a red eye from OAK to BOS on turkey morning. Two one-hour naps and then I was off to The Feast at a friend's house.

Made it to bed by 9pm last night and slept for 12 hours

Can someone explain the last two posts?

Oh, wait, you're asking if I'm the Mall Ninja?  :D  Sadly, no, I don't possess that degree of extreme tacticality.

Because I only have the pants.  Now, if I had the HyperTactical Boots of Wall-climbing, then you'd be talking about some super-extreme tacticality.
