I've seen a lot of crazy microwave experiments...   If you don't cover the burning match like they did, the plasma *WILL* float up to the top of your microwave.   This does tend to leave scorch marks on your microwave.

There is a couple of guys in Great Britain that have done a lot of crazy experiments like that.  Can't remember the name of their show now though....

I'm guessing the carbon in the match smoke gets excited by the microwaves.

He also said it's making Nitrous, Nitric (?) oxide or NO2, I know Nitric is the "bad one" but I forget it's formula.

Old CD's for 3 seconds are cool.

Also, a microwave will make flourescent tubes and the argon in incandescent bulbs glow.
