There's a sucker born every minute
« on: June 02, 2021, 04:45:15 PM »
Ran across a link to this on twitter:

I can only shake my head in admiration.

I wonder if the sculpture had clothes.

I looked at the link, but didn't see a picture of this one.   =)

He is an artist.  80% of his job is to come up with an artistic sounding sales pitch that art people will fall for.

So does the auction actually hire movers to deliver the sculpture?  That would complete the story.  Even better if it came in a big glass case with a plaque.

Apparently, it's not the first "immaterial sculpture" he's foisted onto sold to some poor sap. The "artist" says, "When I decide to 'exhibit' an immaterial sculpture in a given space, that space will concentrate a certain amount and density of thoughts at a precise point . . ."

I'm wondering if he's picking up the density of my thoughts in regards to his sanity and character . . . .

I think it would be a better product if it was actually in a clear, sealed box with a vacuum pulled on it.  That would allow the sucker owner to brag to his fellow suckers friends.

I can just picture people in an art gallery with sketch books staring at it.   =D

Reminds me of the banana taped to the wall.

I don't see why not.

I don't know why you guys are amazed. Invisibility is a long-known technique.

This is my cloak of invisibility on a coat hanger...

How to launder money 101... You'll find something like that getting sold, and then resold multiple times, at huge profits.

Yes ... on his way to the bank.

In reality, this brings back unhappy memories of architecture school. In architecture school, at the end of each design project we had to go through the "jury" process, in which each student had to pin up prints of his/her project in front of a jury made up of (typically) five faculty members, explain it, and then respond to questions and concerns raised by the jurors. Some of us put a lot of effort into creating designs that might have had a chance of working in the real world. Others just threw a bunch of crayon-like scrawls on large sheets of paper at the past minute, pinned them to the wall, and then waxed eloquent about how their "vision" was going to revolutionize the human experience.

Guess who got the best scores on their projects.

The whackos.  Their designs yielded the best opportunities to use a higher percentage of the contemporary architectural buzzwords.

The poor schnooks  who aimed for practicality and reality were severely handicapped in this regard.

Somehow I'm reminded of the Frank Lloyd Wright building where the overhanging porch started to fall off the rest of the house.

Engineering hubris.
