Gates did what he could to squeeze as much money out of you as he could but for the most part stayed out your of business and personal stuff. With Zuckerberg your business and personal stuff is his business.

You realize that Windows 10 machines send all manner of information directly to MS?  Up to and including Office documents, email contacts and calendaring items?

Gates stepped down from running MS a while back, 2008 I think it was. So I don't think you can pin what goes on in 10 behind the scenes on him.
