Official Statement by U.S. Navy Retirees
« on: March 17, 2010, 08:38:16 PM »
From:  Retired U.S Navy Personnel

We in retirement take exception to everyone saying that Bernanke,
Obama, Reid and Pelosi are spending like drunken sailors.

When we were drunken sailors, we quit drinking when we ran out of money.

Maybe they're right after all. The times when I was the most  [barf] shat faced while in the Navy it was usually on other people's money, not one to get that drunk on my own dime. The gov't big-wigs want to party on OPM (ours) so really we drunken sailors are similar to the power drunk fools in that respect.

One niggling(That's racist!) detail though. Drunken sailors do not spend money profligately for one very good reason. As a sailor you are not drunk until someone else says you are, and that usually involves a stretcher, no big spending opportunities there.

Maybe they should come up with a new analogy, such as spends money like Barney Frank in Thailand.  =D
AKA Navy Joe

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

My son was in the AF at Kelly AFB near San Antonio.  He got wasted and came back to the coed dorms one nite and plopped down with a female airman (?) and made out with her. She must have been wasted too.  The next day she was going around the section asking who so and so was.

That's probably the usual progression for everyone here. Very funny until you realize the seriousness veiled by the joke.
