This actually sounds pretty good; I have never thought about boiling the pasta in a dilute beer solution.

Actually it used to be pretty common to slap a slice of cheddar on a hot wedge of apple pie.

I've heard of that. I just think it's best not to dredge up historic atrocities. Pie-cheesing is, of course, no longer legal in the civilized world.

Then you've either not eaten in many Southern diners. Cheese on apple pie is as common as grits - which are also best with cheese, I might add.
