Giffords Pushes for Credit Card Gun Purchase Tracking
« on: August 29, 2022, 08:26:15 AM »
I guess this *expletive deleted*it is starting again. I'm really afraid that at some point they will succeed. Also:

They are oblivious to the slippery slope they are creating regarding stuff that's not guns.

I assume they won't flag vehicle purchases and stockpiling of gasoline.  The one guy ran over a bunch of people in that parade and people die from getting his by motor vehicles a lot more every year.  Small percentage of vehicle and gas purchases?  Pretty much the same for any product that can be used as a weapon.

The other part is if they do something like this, it will push people to pay cash for ammo at dealers and gun shows like they used to not all that long ago (and some still do).  Or online dealers might just start taking checks.

They won't stop anything.  The mental health issues and the bureaucratic systems that could have stopped it will still ignore the warnings for the next shooter.

And you don't really need a lot of ammo to do what these shooters did.

Or paying cash for prepaid cash cards for online purchases. Until cash is outlawed, of course.

Tracking fertilizer and diesel fuel purchases?  And/or truck rentals?

I bought an AR on credit the day after Obama won. I bought two 80% lowers as soon as they made noise about them. Didn’t need any of them, just trying to pump up their numbers. Wish they would stop, I will never financially recover from this.

How large is "large"?  1000 lbs?  2000?  Other?

When she says tracking, are we assuming she means the CC companies will report purchases to the ATF or FBI?    I figure the CC companies already know what I am buying and that information is available if someone decided to pry into my purchase history.

Apparently firearms and ammo are generically listed under "sporting goods" with most CC companies. They want a firearms specific category for tracking and reporting "unusual purchases".

Apparently AN for fertilizer has 2 things that make it unsuitable for explosive use.  The prill size is much too large (or too small, can’t remember which), and they include a tracing chemical so the source can be determined if you somehow get it to detonate.

A lot of murders being committed with break-top reproduction revolvers in .32 Remington Long?  Gyrojet pistols? Needle guns?

Captive bolts were all the rage for a while there.

IIRC it is too large. Back when I had a recipe for making homemade tannerite type stuff you needed a couple of blenders to reduce the size of the material.
