Upcoming computer game pits you against the evil anti-gov christian militia in war-torn Montana:

An especially tasteful scene:

It is only a game.

With a message. Games have messages, just like Hollywood.

Just watched the trailer and read a description. Player is an officer set to arrest a cult leader. Cult has taken over the county, more or less. Violence ensues. Don't know about any hidden adgendas or anything, but I'd be interested in giving it a play.
-
Some of the other games in the series were pretty good.
Far Cry 2: Set in Africa. Player is a mercenary, bad guys were arms dealers, a Christian priest plays a positive role.
Far Cry 3: Set on an island. Player is spoiled rich kid, bad guys were pirates, island mysticism plays a positive role through most of the game but ends up being cast in a pretty negative light.
Far Cry 4: Set in a Himalayan country. Player is the son of an expatriate native who is returning home, bad guys are the tyrannical government, Buddhism (I think?) plays a significant role in the lives of the innocents and "good guys" but if the religious leader is given control he slaughters his opponents.
I'd give Far Cry 5 a play.

I really enjoyed 4 and am excited about whacking a *expletive deleted*it ton of cultists

Loved FarCry 3, still remember the "Poking the Hornets Nest" mission. Looking forward to 5, the Nick Rye trailer is my favorite so far, though they're all good. [ar15]

I've only played 2 so far. Don't really... get the entire... scenario.

Outrage is cheap PR. And it will sell games.
-
I will say one thing about Far Cry 2... it is VERY atmospheric. You really feel drawn into the game, not just observing it.
The first Bioshock was very much like that.
