Lost News Stories
« on: June 21, 2006, 02:36:05 PM »
Just e-mailed the to Fox News for their "Lineup" show. Probably never hear anymore about it. Anybody care to comment on any or all?

Whatever happened::::
Millions of dollars in mobile homes bought by FEMA, then sat for months in AR or wherever, because FEMA regulations preclude putting mobile homes in the flood plain. Somebody got fat off that deal! Who? Who bought them and "didn't know" the regulations?

Ray Nagan (sp?) admitted New Orleans had "cooked the books" re: roster of NOPD to get more Fed funds "because everybody does it". Never heard any more about it.

New Orleans reportedly spent Fed funds on pickup trucks, etc. claiming they had state of the art communications equipment. Communications failed immediately when Katrina struck.

Who oversees Dept of Homeland Security  spending, specifically grant money? I know personally of equipment bought with DHS funds and lying idle, NOBODY trained to use it, no policies in place a full yr after equipment installed. Do we wait for another disaster to find out it would have been nice to have?

Now we have National Guard troops patrolling NO to help the NOPD. No place to put prisoners so NO has been arreating and setting free since Katrina. Something wrong with this picture?

Courts ordered NO to return guns to citizens from whom the cops stole them. Legally owned guns in the homes of legal NO residents trying to survive when NOPD admitted they couldn't help the city. Now Nagan says the don't have the resources to do background checks. Why do the need background checks? Where are the guns? Missing? What happened to all the vehicles they stole "for safe keeping"?

Sounds like humdrum events in the "Big Sleazy".

Speaking of lost news stories...

Whatever happened with the news story about the $2.3 Trillion dollars (approximately one quarter of the yearly budget) for which the defense department could not account?  Originally the story came out about about four and a half years ago.  I haven't heard anything about it since.  Have you?  If so, please share.
What if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

I never heard any more about the riverboat pilot that rammed the interstate hiway bridge in OK a few years back...Huh?

They immediately whisked him off to a hospital (so they said) and reported that he must have had some sort of health problem.

You would think there would have been a follow-up story ... look how much news there was about the Exxon Valdez captain ....

Oh yeah, and IIRC the barge hit the bridge on the upstream side while heading upstream

How about the El Al clerk shot at LAX and the SUV jihadist?  I wonder if these weren't independent acts of Islamist terror that the authorities didn't want attention drawn to.  But that would fly in the face of the idea that the administration is trying to frighten us into giving up our rights.

Actually, it would fly in the face of the idea that the administration is protecting us from terrorists Tongue
