watch pocket
« on: September 07, 2007, 02:33:45 PM »
One if my co-workers just "discovered" a special little jeans pocket for a USB drive.  Pretty pleased about it actually.  Any of you codgers ever put a watch in there? grin

Is that what they're called?
I always thought watch pockets were tiny pocket watch sized pockets for watches that resided on the lower left or right of a person's vest or coat.
Never really knew they had a specific purpose.  I always keep a cheap lighter in mine.

I always was taught the little pocket was for a pocket watch.
I finally put one in there when I was about 14.I tried to lift something heavy and
rested it on my hip and broke my watch!

Not I, the odd USB drive though.  I've friend who DOES keep his watch there.  I'll have to remember to call him an old codger next time I see him, despite my being several years his elder.

Yeah, I keep my pocket watch in there, on those fairly frequent occasions when I wear one. Other times I keep an asprin tin (remember those?) with my meds in it. Fits perfectly.  I picked up a pair of 'Brand X' jeans a few months ago and was surprised to discover they disincluded the pocket on my pair. Never again.

I thought it was where you put emergency backup cash so you had something left after a night out on the town with your girl drained you of all the funds she could easily find. grin

It's a good place to keep earplugs while jeeping just incase you need to stop and shoot at squeaks with a caliber beyond the 22LR, like a .45, 10mm or what not.

Yep.  Used to carry my grandpap's white gold octagon Elgin watch in that pocket.
Wool winter issue trousers I wore when on the PD had a watch pocket as well.

Watch pocket? I've used it for change, Zippo lighters/mini Bic lighters, and even a knife. The watch pocket sizes seem to vary quite a bit from brand to brand.

Speed-strip fits nicely, and it's on the right (proper) side to feed the Speed-six or SP!

Stay safe.

good place to break a watch, unless you are just standing around watching others work  rolleyes

My Leatherman Wave fits nicely in the watch pocket on my jeans.  It's there now.

It won't fit my pocket watch. It won't fit my leatherman. It won't fit much at all actually. I think I've put a few quarters in there when they are knocking against other things in my pocket but that's about it.
