Reward offered for information on who put 'Trump 2020' sticker on bear
https://wlos.com/news/local/reward-offered-for-information-on-who-put-trump-2020-sticker-on-bear
"Help Asheville Bears" (HAB) is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone who can find out who put a 'Trump 2020' sticker on the bear’s collar.
Sheila Chapman tells News 13 the black bear wandered onto her front porch in North Asheville on July 31 when she noticed something colorful on its collar.
I am not bothered by the sticker. Who is the person who put this big clunky collar on the bear? That just looks uncomfortable as hell. What is that part hanging down in the front.
Also, anyone know why they stick the stuff in their ears? Is that part of the collar or does it do something else?
-
That looks like a tracking collar.

That looks like a tracking collar.
Seems awfully large to me. Maybe it is just the angle. I am surprised the animal rights people aren't more upset about that.
I guess these people can go take the sticker off. They just can't put the bear the sleep when they do it.
-
The bear did it, it is tired of asheville hippies. They smell worse than bears and they leave out crappy vegan gluten free garbage. Make Asheville Garbage Great Again!
-
Yep, tracking collar. You can see similar collars if you search for images of bears with tracking collars. They are all pretty bulky.
-
Why wouldn't somebody claim they did it just for the 5K reward? If it's legal to stick a collar on a bear why wouldn't putting a sticker on one be OK too?
-
The $5,000 is an award for bravery, right? ???
Or is it because the bear is a Democrat? He is black, so chances are...
-
It's Asheville, aka Moscow, NC. They're pissed it wasn't a Biden 2020 sticker.

I thought it was the one that talked about bear arms.

I heard about this a few days ago, supposedly this young bear is accustomed to people, so someone probably gave it a donut and stuck a trump sticker on the collar. Yes the collars are bulky, has a battery, GPS transponder, etc in it.
This bear apparently is used to getting food from people, when it gets older it will probably be an ahole and take what it wants. More than likely need to be killed for it.
I have wolves on my game camera where I am bear hunting this fall, some of the wolves have tracking collars on them, just as bulky as the bears.

I posted this on my faceplace page and one of my liberal friends is going politely nuts...
;/
The whole concept that putting a sticker on the bear's tracking collar is cruel and inhumane?
No, darting the bear, sticking a collar on it and then ramming a fricking ear tag through is ear is a lot more along the level of cruel and inhumane.

If the big honking collar wasn't there, there would be no place to put the sticker.
Inhumane would be sticking a big Trump tag through the bear's ear, but I guess that is only okay if it is for research.
-
Do any of you know why they would tag both ears as well as put on the collar?
-
If the bear had attacked someone it wouldn't have surprised me to see media spin that would have topped anything the Babylon Bee could come up with.
-

If both ears are tagged, it might make it easier to see the info from a distance.
Also, at least with bird bands, what type of band on what leg tells you info also (like the sex).

She's actually a VERY smart woman. Retired elder-care attorney. Canadian, which is part of the problem. She and her husband immigrated to the US (California, jesus wept!) to be near the grandkids... Keeps wanting to turn the United States into Canada. Asked her many times why she's here when her vision of bucolic socialist utopia is just a few hours north...
But holy freaking crap...

The collar is a radio tracking collar. Pretty common.
The ear tags can convey a variety of information. Colors can give quick visual identification, while the tags may have other information (such as blood line, birth information, etc.).

Putting a sticker on a bear collar makes a person a potential Darwin Award nominee, but how is this supposedly harming the bear?
-
Maybe they should go ask the bear about the sticker.

And give it a hug to make it feel better.

Biden would sniff that.

I know I have seen cartoons of people getting tagged by aliens, but that is good. =)

If you accidently kill one of the wolves make sure to cut the collar off and run it down to the local truck stop and put the collar on a truck headed out of the area, be careful of the cameras though. ;)

I find the mental disjunct of that woman fascinating. The collar iitself is OK, but adding a less than an ounce sticker on it somehow makes it cruelty.
What is wrong with her brain?
Is this what Orwell called "doublethink?"
Or maybe schizophrenia in the classical sense?
Maybe it's just me, and I need reindoctrination.
Help me out here.

With those people, it's never about the facts, it's just about the agenda.

Well, I briefly thought it was somehow just part of the Trumpy Bear advertising campaign:
https://gettrumpybear.com/
But then I realized it was just something wrong with her head.

I was thinking to stash it in one of the local postal trucks. Give them a regular daily route to watch on the monitors.

Wouldn’t it be more fun to just stick it on a local cow and see how long they track the world’s most boring wolf?
-
Put it in a jar and let it float down the river.
But once again, be careful of cameras. I wonder if you can still take a leak al fresco anymore without being recorded.

I got a call from a friend last night. He is up in ND for the harvest and wanted me to go by and check one of his freezers today he has been having problems with.
When he was younger he used to take armadillos up with him and drop them along the road. He thought it was funny but he was really screwing with the conversation department.

As are you, sir. In your own way, of course. How many shots did you enjoy before posting? =D

OK, so you've hit base level. Now it's time to get serious and start building on that foundation...

You seem almost ready to find a sticker and another bear.

I need more stickers.

"Who put 'Trump 2020' sticker on bear?"
Anyone think to ask Boo-Boo?

Conservation, conversation, what's the difference if your name is Spellcheck?

Didn't I read somewhere that armadillos could carry leprosy?
ETA Why yes, yes did:
Leprosy
Also known as Hansen's Disease, there are relatively few species that have a body temperature low enough to play host to the condition, but there have been some instances where this disease has been passed on to people. This is not something that can be transmitted by proximity alone, and in most cases where people have contracted leprosy they have either had physical contact or even eaten armadillo.

Gawdamighty, can you imagine cleaning an armadillo for the table?

My wife's grandfathers war buddy loved armadillo. He said he would eat it over beef. I've never tried it but the dog don't seem to like them. She will kill them and leave them in the yard.

I have read that around twenty percent of armadillos carry leprosy... stay away from those things.
Even if they are delicious. :O

It's not about the sticker per se, of course, it is about the message on the sticker. I have to think that if this was a biden sticker it would have been reported in light-hearted and whimsical fashion. "Somebody seems to be over-enthusiastic about their choice of candidate (and it should be your choice too) in the upcoming election. Incredibly cute film at 11."

^ Bingo ! Well done !
-
Wouldn't surprise me if one or more of the crew who collared the bear put the sticker on.
(The expected response to questioning would of course be "I didn't do it! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!")

Some bigoted people refuse to consider the possibility that the bear did it. They deny his agency.
