I turned down a fill-in appointment earlier this year.

Already retired once.  Working towards doing it again.

I had a revelation today when I got back approval for another $150K of home equity loan. It listed our credit scores (right at 800), debt (near zero except for the now $550K in equity loans) and net worth pushing $1M (and I didn't even claim the IRAs and 401Ks). And yet, I don't have any level of comfort at all in retiring tomorrow, even with Fed retirement pay (2) and SS available.

Do you think we get in a mindset that says: "Be careful: things could go to Hell in a handbasket)?
