Apparently this guy used to be gay.  He calls himself a Reformed Homosexual.

What a goofball.  When was the last time you listened to Sinatra or Motorhead and decided you wanted to be a butt pirate became overwhelmed with homosexual thoughts?

You know somebody has snapped and killed with a blunt object after hearing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" one time too many.  How is that safe?

Has anyone noticed that he's still looking pretty gay in his mission page photo?  He looks a bit like Big Gay Al.

He's trying to figure out if you're a band he can add to the list.  grin

Ya know, Twy, even a kooky, reformed-homosexual "pastor" might have a life.  Sheesh.

"Jumped the gun"?  Isn't that some kind of gay code?  grin

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Due to the palpable irony of this video, I have watched it at least a dozen times and shared it with all my homosexual friends as mockery fodder.  I concur with crt360, he does sorta look like Big Gay Al.

If that dude scares you, you are easily scared.

At worst, he is harmless and hopelessly out of step with contemporary pop culture.

I, too, wonder about some of his choices as "Gay" bands.  But, no one can argure that the Pet Shop Boys aren't queer as a $3 bill.  On second thought, the PSBs could be more a "Necrophelia Band," considering their pasty complexions & English backgrounds. Wink

True in a way.  On the other hand, I think we are all harmed by such people who discredit the truth by being half-right about such hotly-debated topics.

I can't help feeling like it's some sort of joke, or post-modern performance art piece gone horribly wrong.  Or maybe my irony-dar is turned up too high.

Has anyone noticed that in a song about gay people he says "help me resist temptation"?
Also, this is so crazy, koooky, and off the top (not to mention cheesy) that it has to be a joke.

I still think it's funny though.

I always found that after repenting of sin, it was best for me not to continue to dwell on it.

I understand the impulse to help others, but if you are saved from a besetting sin, say alcohol, and then spend the rest of your life doing nothing but launching a public campaign against it, you are still letting that sin be the focus of your life.

Given the ridiculous lengths he's going to, it not only seems like he's not moving forward, it really appears he's still obsessed with it.

Of course, similar to fistful, I absolutely loath leaders who use patent overstatement and stretches of illogic to make their case as it destroys whatever credibility they may have and tarnishes the efforts of everyone else trying to make logical and intelligent points about the same topic.

Save me from my purported allies, I can handle my enemies well enough.  rolleyes

You mean you listened to one of his songs?  You don't have a life either, which is pretty bad coming from fistful.   laugh

Who's really scared?

I just find him disturbing because he's stating unequivocally that "God hates fags."

Sorry. God, as you might see Him, Her. S/him, or It, hates sin of some sort, but not the sinner. Suggesting otherwise, especially given his background, is pretty ballsy.

Where does he say that "God hates fags"?  You'll pardon me if I'd rather not suffer through everything he has to say on his website.

The chorus of his song is "God hates fags, god hates a fag, god hates fags, if you're a fag he hates you too."

It's the refrain from the song in his music video, which is, strangely enough, currently unavailable: http://eveningservice.com/Video
