Need help from you computer gurus...please
« on: February 21, 2007, 01:55:18 PM »
How do you remove stored photo files that pop up in the Window Photo and Fax Viewer?  My daughter was looking at some pics of dogs the other night, and discovered that if she hit the forward arrow, the photos would just keep cummin.  Unfortunately, some of the pictures were of people ...well...um...dong that.  I don't know where to locate these unsavory photos, so I can't delete them. I never downloaded these pics (not that I haven't done that sort of thing...but I've never seen most of these.  When I look at properties,it lists them as in "my documents" but it truncates the location, and I've search and searched through those files to no avail.  I've searched the temp files, my docs, my pics, done a search for jpegs, gifs , etc. and they don't show up.  I'd be content to simply delete the windows viewer if that would get rid of them.  Help!!!

I'm not sure how to do that.
The funny thing is, my daughter now thinks her aunt who sent the pics is a porn freak.

Iain has it.

This sounds like cached images from someone's web activity.

If you run Windows XP, these files are stored in a Temporary Internet Files folder.  To get to that folder, go to:

<drive>:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Local Settings is a hidden folder.  To view it, go to Tools, Folder Options and select the View tab.  Then click the Show Hidden Files and Folders radio button.  Click "Apply to All Folders" and try again.

There may be sub-folders under Temporary Internet Files.

Thank you.  They're gone.  Now...to off work on the SIL's reputation.
