Also bringing in a grocery store destroys part of the 'victim status' of the people who live in the neighborhood.
There is a reason why small family run (usually by a family not of the local demographic) grocery and convenienece stores have limited selection and high prices- they sell what sells... the higher prices charged are what are needed to pay for the cost of doing business, which can include higher insurance rates, higher levels of property crimes, etc. Community organizers love to use the shop owners are scapegoats to fan the flames of racism.
