The No-Fly/No-Buy Proposal
« on: June 16, 2016, 02:57:38 PM »

Quote
Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, has countered with a proposal that would delay gun sales to those on the terrorist watch lists for three days, giving authorities time to make a case that the sale shouldn’t go through. The purchaser would also have the right to challenge the decision in court.

Democrats argue that puts the burden on the government rather than on the individual on the no-fly list.

I simply have no words to express the anger that last statement gives me.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Senator Manchin about the watch list:  "Due process is what's killing us."

Not content with destroying the Second Amendment, they want to dispense with the Fifth and Fourteenth as well.

I could write more, but the mods would probably give me a time-out.

They could delay purchases 3 days now technically by simply refusing to give the okay on the NICS check.  What they would try to do in 3 days is another matter.

I have a feeling the FedGov wouldn't want to have to go to court to deny the sale as that would require them to prove their suspicions in court.  If they could do that, it wouldn't just be a "watch" list.  I figure they have little or no evidence on most all the people on the current no-fly list.  I doubt a no-gun list would be any better.

Also, would a no-buy list just deny sales or would they try to come take away guns currently owned.

Looking at the youtube video:  He said the quoted phrase certainly.  Then later at the end he talks about how they are accusing law abiding gun owners who are doing nothing wrong.  He is either trying to play both sides or is making it up as he goes along.  In the back of my mind, I keep hearing "The ends justify the means." over and over.  You think that means something?

It's not terrorists who are killing us, it's Due Process.

In the same interview, Manchin calls it a "loophole" when a prohibited person buys a gun in a private sale. My forehead is getting worn from all the face-palming, here.

Neither the Orlando or San Bernadino shooters where on the no fly list. Why are they trying to pass this law? I just wish the media would ask this question and report on the question and answer.

Because it's a convenient excuse.

The media is the last people who would ever ask that question. That question is not relevant to the "GUNZ IS SCARY" reporting we, the people, need!

Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate today regarding the 2A and Due Process.  Good thing he's not the nominee and we have Donald Trump who wants to take away Due Process for those on secret government lists.

Because they aren't trying to prevent atrocities, they're trying to make it so only the government and bad guys* have guns.
