Title: Black Friday (and pre Black Friday) deals
Post by: Kingcreek on November 10, 2019, 10:25:18 AM
I’ve been getting a bunch of pre BF deal offers. Jumped on my first one 2 days ago and waiting for delivery from battery junction. I needed a new headlamp for deer hunting and chores and going out to the woodshed at night for firewood. I’ve had bad luck with all the AAAx3 ones I’ve had.
Bought a Fenix HM50R. Lightweight and small, LED up to 500 lumens w 4 power settings and power indicator that is rechargeable or single cr123. $51 and free shipping was a bargain.
Now I’m waiting on a deal on a Warn winch for the Jeep...
Anybody else taking the bait?

Amazon has the Tipton Ultra gun vise as a lightning deal for another four hours from the time of this post:

https://www.amazon.com/Tipton-Construction-Customizable-Non-Marring-Gunsmithing/dp/B01N7RXG4T/ref=gbps_img_m-8_3f9e_3f530d6e?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=ea09846b-2c82-4ffb-9376-bee7e57d3f9e&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-8&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=14611812011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=HWX4Z6N2JTE2QCMPMTE1

EDIT: This shooting rest as well. I think I might jump on this, as it and a folding stool are a compact set to throw in the 4Runner when I go to the range as I usually shoot in a pit, where it's "bring your own table".

Big Daddy Unlimited sent something out that they will be doing gun packages each day until Black Friday.  I haven't seen anything else just yet, but I am sure I will.

Walmart is selling off ammo, but maybe not the best people to spend money with.

Primary Arms:  12% off and free shipping on orders over $200 with SAVE12 code.  I think this is only for a day or two.

Palmetto State Armory has an AR pistol kit for $299.  10" nitrided barrel with free float hand guard.  That was supposed to just be through today.  On today's email, I see rifle and pistol kits for $300 to $400.
Now I am curious if they will have anything better next week.

Not better, just different. They put different kits on sale regularly, look for the one you want, and check back every week for a couple months and it will come around.

More PSA goodness.

PSA has a set of BOTH front and back Magpul MBUS for $49.99 with the coupon code MBUSSET going on right now.  Mine just arrived today in fact.

FYI.

They also have the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x scope with a Picatinny/AR rail mount as a bundle for $249.99 coupon code VORTEX. Normal price on this bundle is $389.99, it's even $388.99 on Amazon.

Anyone seeing any really good deals on .32 ACP ammo?

If not, anyone have advice on the best place to order .32 ACP ammo?

Classic has Geco 73gr for $9/box right now.  That's about as cheap as it gets. And Classic is a relatively large/well known name.

https://www.classicfirearms.com/geco-270340050-32-acp-full-metal-jacket/

Foundry has it for $.10 cheaper per box, you'd have to see who has better shipping. (I suspect Classic will)

I've ordered from Carolina Munitions before because their shipping came out cheaper. They have Fiocchi for $10/box.

https://carolinamunitions.com/fiocchi-32ap-classic-line-32-automatic-colt-pistol-acp-73-gr-full-metal-jacket-50-rounds.html?asaid=as0004

Essentially I just put it in the cart and estimate the shipping between a few places that come out the lowest at Ammoseek.com (http://Ammoseek.com)

Dang, that is cheap.  Even SGAmmo was over $15/box.

Thanks! I missed that price when I went looking. That is a decent price, and Geco is decent ammo.

I think I'm going to order up a case no matter what. That should give me enough .32 ACP to last me the rest of my life.

Just saw it in an email.  Primary Arms has some Blemished 20-round Lancer mags for $9.99.

If you like their Prism scopes, the blemished 5X version is $250.

I'm considering a mountain bike build this winter, so I might be watching for some BF sales on parts, wheels or the frame.

IDLife will have a serious sale on the Health and fitness DNA kits starting on the 25th.

Costco and Best Buy show a Samsung 75" in the $750 range.  There is a slightly better model just under $1000.

https://www.costco.com/samsung-75%22-class---6-series---4k-uhd-led-lcd-tv.product.100509482.html

Something I was considering next week.  I need to look up some reviews as I have no idea what all the series 6 and other designations means.  All it means now is "better than my current TV" which isn't saying much.

Figures.  I was going to meet my Dad at one Monday to see what they had.  Probably be out of them by then.

Best Buy appears to still have a deal where if you apply for their credit card, you can get 10% off.  That is another option.

I'm very likely going to spring for a new TV in the 65" range along with a surround system and a wall mount after Christmas. I have enough Visa rewards points to cover almost all of it. Probably just going to get a Samsung from Best Buy.

I'll be watching the PSA sales for an AR pistol kit. One of the kits with the polished trigger and other upgrades from their basic kits.

Also I need a new pair of boots and LA Police Gear always does 25% storewide, so I'll probably pick up a pair of the Beleville insulated boots with the Winter outsole.

I am also looking at PSA pistol kits. As of now I am leaning toward the one that comes with the SIG optic. It has been running 440 dollars less than list for a while. I figure I will get a few upgrades from Brownells to go with it while I am at it.

I think for the price it is a good buy, especially in kit form. I will get an ambi safety and a different charging handle from Brownell's but other than that I think it is ready to go the way it is.

I think this is the rifle kit I bought a year or more ago.  It actually is a decently lightweight rifle and shoots pretty good.  However, I did get a different grip and an ALG trigger.

The only issue I remember is the bolt release piece was too wide to slot into my lower when I was installing the parts.  I ended up robbing another parts kit.

This year I was considering their AR pistol kits.  Sames as the one above without the red dot.

I can tell you that I have one of those SBA3 braces, and it's a real improvement on the older ones.  It's adjustable for length of …..uh brace I guess, so if your arms are longer or shorter it works well.  Also the rubber you brace against is pretty firm, so it works well and is not at all floppy, while still absorbing a little recoil.

All in all it's much easier to shoot with the A3 then the earlier ones.

That seems like a pretty decent kit.

That's good to know as I've not delved into AR pistols as of yet, and the brace thing was a concern. It doesn't matter if the gun looks cool if it's uncomfortable for my gangly arms.

I'm getting really close to pulling the trigger on it, I think. I almost wish it didn't come with the Romeo 5. Not because I don't like it - I have one and really like it, but it would have been interesting to try something new. Though if I decide to blow dough on that Sig Canebrake, maybe I'll go whole hog there and get a higher end RD.

PSA had some things in their email today.  Federal has some rebate stuff going on which was most of it.

Taurus G2C for $179 with rebate on top of that.  SCCY pistol for $150.

The had one of their AKs at $519, but it is already showing out of stock.  That prices is pretty good.  It did pretty good in the AK Operators Union testing.

I'll be hunting for a mountain bike frame online.  Wife's lost a lot of weight this year, and needs a lot of clothes.  I'll be hunting for a name brand jacket for her in an appropriate size.  And of all things, shoes.  A lot of her shoes don't fit right, so she needs some new shoes.

It's at $100 off while supplies last.  They're moving really fast.
One of the members here has lost 60lbs this year.  He got started on slim+ which is also on black friday sale.  Helps curb appetite, great for staying out of the snacks.
Also, Day and Night cream is bogo.  Makes a really good gift for some of the women in your life.

Well crap.
My wife just bought $4500 worth of new kitchen appliances on super sale with rebates.
And I just got the email with Black Friday pricing on the warn winch I want for the Jeep for $670. With synthetic line.
No way is she going to go along with it.
Married life means never getting to say I want it and I’m buying it anyway.

Scored a name brand coat the wife wanted for about 1/2 what she told me it would cost yesterday.  Actually got her that and another coat for $60 less total than what the one coat was supposed to cost lol

After a movie yesterday the step mom wanted to stop at best buy. Picked up wireless speakers for the living room with a sound bar for $140 total.  Decent sound, I could tell it helps my wife and MIL having the surround.

Not sure who has some extra money lying around to spend on a pricey 308 semi-auto.  I got this email Thursday.

Quote

You can choose a heavy or light contour barrel.  Black is the standard color for $150 more you can get it it Olive Drab, Flat Dark Earth, or Sniper Grey.  We have a few .243 barrels also if you'd prefer that caliber.  NO OTHER SUBSTITUTIONS.  This offer is good through Dec 2nd at 4pm MST.  First come, first serve.  Email us at sales@robarm.com to reserve.  Have a great weekend!

Note:  The XCR was designed and is built in the US without government assistance by a Robinson Armament Co., a US company owned by US Citizens.
Brownells had the same rifle on sale for about $2000.  Not sure if their black friday discount codes added to that or not.

I bought one of the $59.99 gong targets from Cabela's online with free shipping. They are still available.

Also bought a recliner at the store at $200 off $500, so $300 total. Not too bad for the TV room.

Local Cabela's had a doorbuster for a Savage bolt gun with scope for $199. Sure the scope is worthless and it's a bottom-rung gun, but $199 is the cheapest I ever saw for a new 308.

Sportsman warehouse had a deal on AR pistols but I didn't go there because if I had, I might have bought one.

AR500 Armor sells steel targets and has them on sale.  I think they have a 25% off sale going right now.  All their steel targets are 1/2" AR500 steel.  I have some and they have held up to rifle and pistol well.
BLACKFRIDAY is the code to use at checkout.

If you get the samsung tv get the Samsung surround. The integrate and only need one remote.

That is VERY much the intention. I'm tired of having 72 freaking remotes for everything.

I can say we are very pleased with our Samsung TV and Samsung surround sound.

We went with a soundbar, wireless subwoofer, and two wireless satellite speakers. I haven't noticed any issues with lag on the wireless speakers at all (something older wireless speakers were known for.)

The only complaint I have is it isn't as good as our wired system in the main room. Of course, We have a 7.0 surround sound system with a significant amount more wattage, so I wasn't really expecting it to be comparable.

On to the main topic of the thread: for "retro" gaming, Gamestop is having sales on their older generation gaming systems.

"I can say we are very pleased with our Samsung TV and Samsung surround sound."

I've had two Samsung TVs, an old 32" tube TV and now my current 2008-model year HD flat screen. Both have given incredibly good service.

Castle Key has several Samsung TVs, including one of the high end LEDs... The picture on that one is absolutely stunning. We watched the Alabama-Auburn game on Saturday (possibly the best college game I have ever seen, and I don't like either team) and there were times when it felt as if I were on the field.

He also has a Samsung sound bar, but not the wireless rear speakers. Oddly, there are times when the sound and the picture are slightly out of synch. Reminds me of one of those overdubbed 1950s Japanese Samurai movies.

A pro/con on the Samsung soundbar:

I got one for my last Samsung TV, both because  I was already pleased with Samsung and wanted the integration to the TV remote.

The Soundbar/wireless woofer had excellent sound quality - really let me hear some of those mid-range "people talking" sounds that got muffled on the TV speakers. The con was that for some inexplicable reason, the soundbar would randomly change the audio input. I'd be watching a program, then suddenly silence. Then I'd have to get up, figure out where I stashed the soundbar remote (because you can't switch soundbar input on the TV remote) and switch back to the soundbar's audio input.

None of that came up in reviews when I bought the thing, but when I started looking at the issue, reviews a year later had dropped from five star to three star specifically because of that glitch, and apparently it was common in many Samsung soundbar systems.

I haven't purchased a soundbar for my new Samsung yet, but I'll be doing some extra research and maybe buying one that has been out for at least a year, so some other suckers can find out if it has any glitches.

I can tell you ours doesn't randomly switch. However, we do manually switch it fairly often as we play our record player through the Bluetooth input on the soundbar and wireless surround. (Yes, you read that right.)

Since we do switch the input at times, that may be a reason it won't randomly switch. Just keeping it on one input may cause the issue.

Not sure, but I have read up on two "common" issues with Samsung:

The soundbar issue  I stated above, and on their TVs (and both my last one and my new QLED do this) they occasionally randomly turn themselves on. On my old one, I would (maybe 3-4 times a year) come home from work to the TV on, or wake up at 0200 and think someone broke in.

On my new TV, it has so far only happened after I turn it off. And I don't mean like 5 seconds after I turn it off, which could be me double pressing the power button, it's more like 30 seconds.

Again though, I really like the sound quality of the Samsung soundbars, and I want another one for this TV. I'm just going to carefully research. Last time I bought it on Amazon. This time I might get one when Costco has them (they only seem to be in stock a few times a year) because then, even a year later, it's an easy return at my local Costco whether I bought it in the store or online.

^^^The Samsung soundbar that we bought at Costco two years ago to go with the new Samsung TV has been flawless.

My Samsung DVD player randomly turns on and opens the drawer.  Weird.
