I'd rather lick a musty basement wall than ever eat liver again. I just don't like it.

But I do like to eat brunsweiger on butter crackers once in a while and I like liver pate.. go figure, must be the spices in it.

Some hotdogs have non meat binders, such as cereal products.

This link is more than you ever wanted to know about hot dogs

3.5% is a miniscule amount of cereal grain compared to what's found in scrapple.

Scrapple might have 10 to 20 times that amount of corn meal or oatmeal added to it.

In a hot dog, you don't taste or feel the cereal grain when you bite into it.

In scrapple, you both taste it and feel its texture.

"so scrapple is meatloaf made up of the leftovers?"

Yep, that's a pretty good way of looking at it.

WAIT ONE DAMNED MINUTE!

You're from IOWA!

I can't believe that you've never encountered scrapple in Iowa!

Nope, haven't ever encountered scrapple.  I think its a east thing, but we got head cheese here. I've never had head cheese because you can see chunks of brain tissue through the clear packaging and it just doesn't look appealing to me.

I just look at the packages in the store and wonder if they even sell it before it expires.

I eat all my left over meats in bratwurst.

Then there's the poor cousin of scrapple: Souse

Even I won't eat that stuff (though my mom says it's good fried).  Looks like a pork jello mold.

I just did a bit of reading and it is very similar to head cheese, except that true souse has vinegar in it.

Either way, I'm not eating it.  I don't like jiggly pork.

There are so many jokes in there I just don't know which way to go! Dammit!

Head cheese and souse never appealed to me much, either.

Souse isn't necessarily jellied, either. Most of the souse I've seen has been pickled and canned, not unlike pickled pig's feet (another god awful disgusting dish).
