When I worked in downtown KCK in the early 90's I knew it was payday when I heard the gunshots.

And you can tell them from fireworks.  The sound is different, and the reports are slower and more regular.

With the local edge of the hood stop-'n'-rob being half a block from us ("For all you beer, cigarette and lottery ticket needs!"), this is not unknown here.

STL is a patchwork. I'm in a gentrified neighborhood, about two-three blocks from attractive nuisances... This could have been up on Gravois - just about a 1/3 block away. Other side of Gravois is a business area, but the other side of that block gets into the sketchy.... But the major streets tend to be dividers.
 
Yeah, you can definitely tell gunfire. And I spent enough time at KCR that I can generally tell you what sort of weapon for full auto...

The map was drawn by someone who figured on "easy." The real southern line is Gravois.
 
One of our aldermen used to be publicly involved with socialism and CPUSA... made excuses for her carjacker when she got jacked. You can guess which one.

Bogie - why would you expect to hear sirens?  You did hear the other day that Gardiner is failing to prosecute something like 70% of all felony charges, didn't you?
