It's 12:14 where I am, or 0014hrs. Got home from Mass around half an hour ago. Now sitting alone, sipping on some vodka, enjoying some quiet alone time before chaos erupts in the morning.
And so I it's been said, many times, many ways, Merry Christmas to you and yours. We'll start the "what did you get " thread in about 14 or 15 hours.

Kiddos sang and read in the Christmas Eve service. Both did well. And our church has upheld its tradition. What tradition is that? Oh, just 75 years of not burning the sanctuary down after candle light Christmas Eve service. We're pretty proud of that.

A very Merry Christmas to all my friends and those otherwise classified here at APS! May your day and evening be spent with family and/or friends or at least the warm memories of someone.
For some this time of year can be tough. You can call me at any hour if you need someone to talk to. I understand family and friend issues and seasonal depression all too well: 00110011 00110001 00111000 00101101 00110100 00111001 00110111 00101101 00110100 00110010 00110111 00111001

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm glad to know every one of you. :)
Chris, I did almost the opposite of you at around the same time. We follow the German tradition of opening on Christmas Eve. Once I kicked everyone out of the house, I poured a glass of whiskey and contemplated in silence in front of the fire and the tree. :)

Merry Christmas everyone! The missus and I managed to survive last night's family festivities. Now that church is done (and I managed not to bungle the audio and projection duties too badly) we're getting ready to start today's family fun.
I think a quiet glass of Scotch in front of the tree is how I will close out the day.

I'll be repeating mine tonight as well, accompanied by the music from the end of A Christmas Story. :)

Just poured my first cocktail of the day. Satsuma rum and club soda.

Well, Donald Trump is gonna put a stop to that kind of immigrant nonsense.

Make Christmas great again!

We're having a
white wet Christmas here. Foggy, with occasional rain.
I ventured onto the little-used "front" porch of my parents' house, and found a package addressed to their neighbor. No telling how long it was sitting there, as everyone uses the back or side door.
-
Merry Christmas to all of my second family here. I hope you're all as content and comfortable on this day as I and those around me are. I toast you all with my coffee cup. Not saying what all is in it.
And here's hoping that those of us that follow the true meaning of the day are comforted by it.

I didn't know that was a German tradition. Interesting because that is how my family did it and we have no German in our family tree. Xmas Eve was for family gifts, while Xmas day was for "Santa".
However, my wife's family does it all on Xmas day.
These days, we (me, wifey, and kids) open our gifts to each other days before Xmas because it's that much less to drag all over the South as we do the "Mtnbkr Family World Tour" through NC and SW VA. We also open gifts early at whichever house we hit first (my folks this year) because there's no way to be with both families on Xmas Day and the drive is too long to open gifts and drive from one place to the next.
It was much easier when my folks and my wife's folks lived in the same town. Back then, we didn't even open our gifts to each other before Xmas. :|

Not just Germany, Sweden and the other Nordic countries follows the same tradition.

Yeah, I just meant it was a German tradition for us because we're German and kept it after immigration. Most Nordic / Germanic societies seem to observe it, and I think some others too. My mom grew up in a German village in Hungary, but the slavics did Christmas Eve too.

No offense to anyone here, but *expletive deleted*ck Christmas.

Friends are on there way over for bigger blacker box with special Trump cards.

I might have agreed with Mike earlier in the day. I've mellowed a bit since I'm loopy tired and I have a fancy pink pig piggy bank with (fake) jewels on it and other assorted loot.
I really wasn't in the Christmas spirit after getting up at 6:30 and going to work. You know it's bad when your boss, who has lupus and a torn muscle in her back, that you look worse than she usually does and she's drugged. Pain, lot's of pain.
And then, it's Sunday, which despite Christmas means it's trash day tomorrow and I clean the house on Sunday. So, more pain, scrubbing and sweeping and vacuuming and cat boxes and all that fun.
We were a good 45 minutes late for the family get together, but I had fun anyway.
And I got a pig. I like my pig. =)

Was going to fry and grill smoke a couple of small turkeys. The fry did not go off as the wind was powerful enough to shake the vat full of 5gal of peanut oil. Screw that noise. Plan B was roast turkey number two in a roasting bag as usual.
Money was a bit tight so we stayed home and toned down the gifts. Still did alright with 2 wilson 47d mags, a super sharp replaceable blade knife, and a set crimson trace laser grips for my sw638.
Christmas is our annual everything gift between wife and self...anniversary, bdays, Christmas, valentines all rolled into one.
It was so warm i was in shorts and short sleeves all day.

Low key Christmas Eve service last night, "lessons and carols". I did a reading. Christmas day, to church. Again, low key normal service, no showy extravaganzas for us, thank you. Then over to my daughter's family for the afternoon for food and presents. I ended up giving away most of a 5 gallon batch of homebrew beer. That was why I made that batch. Those that tried it seemed to think it was good.
What did I get? Not much, and I;m happy with that.

Wilson had a really good Christmas sale on magazines. I'm going to have to check that to see if it's still on, RSN.

Got up early and peeled, cubes and boiled then mashed `taters, made garlic cheese (2 loaves) and cinnamon toast (1 loaf) french bread and cooked the lot along with some other goodies. Once that was done, we went to the wife's aunt's house after picking up her mom and pop from the "home." Visited and ate, got a few small gifts took mom and pop back and collapsed at the house. Terri's physically hurting and I'm spent.
OK, when is this Christmas thing that's supposed to be coming? Sigh... Did I ever mention that this time of year is sucky for some and gets suckier for others as time passes? We're OK, just not "in the Christmas spirit."

Merry Christmas to all!

Merry Christmas, Ladies and Gents. Hope it was good.

The last time I saw something like that, it was floating over Battersea Power Station.

The bacon on the critter is likely to be a bit on the crunchy side.

SWMBO's birthday is Christmas day. Had lunch and walked around downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Never in a million years would I have thought how neat the downtown area is there. Lots of green space, a large marina, an airport, a pro baseball stadium, museums, all sorts of buildings that are very pretty and tropical looking. Had a great lunch at the historic, rehabbed Vinoy Hotel.

But if I feed it right, the bacon could buy even more bacon.

Late to the game, Merry late Christmas and for some Happy Hanukkah, to those if any that are of the Jewish faith, since it began Christmas Eve,
