Cool.  Now do 10mm and you'll be caught up with HiPoint.

.40 out of a 16" barrel.  Heads over to Ballistics by the Inch....

I have a Keltec SU2000 in 40.  Not a bad gun to have with 22 round Glock mags.  I wouldn't buy another one.  I am surprised they didn't just jump to 10mm or 45 ACP to be a little different.  I am not sure if 40 will sell many more rifles since many other inexpensive options are already out there.

I have the 9mm. iteration of the Ruger carbine.  It's a nifty gun,  although I really have little use for the take-down function.
I might like the .40 version,  although I'd go 10mm. if they'd make one.

S2Ks are simple blowback, 10mm would be a bit much for a simple blowback gun without making the bolt mass ridiculously heavy and/or the recoil spring too stiff to operate easily.
Is the Ruger PCC simple blowback as well?

Edit: looking at pictures, I think it is.

I think they're using the word dead instead of simple, sounds more tactical

Okay, so maybe not with this same design.

I want a carbine in 45

Dream combo would match up with my M&P .45 using the same mags, and fold like the sub2k.

Kind of off topic, but I wonder if they could have designed the S2Ks fold to the side instead of over the top? Would have made mounting a red dot easier.

One thing I forgot to add to the above is that Hi-Point does make a simple blowback PCC in 10mm and other than putting up with a bit of extra weight compare to the 9mm versions there's actually no real reason it can't be done. I have one and it is a bit on the heavy side for a PCC compared to my CX4 and S2K in 9mm.

Now for a heavy PCC, pickup a Suomi M31, over 10lbs for a 9mm. The weight does help a bit with it in full auto though  :P The Americanized semi-auto 16" barreled ones are even heavier.

They do make a S2k that uses M&P mags, just not in 45.

These things are still around, though it seems they've made no attempt to add pistols in years:

I've thought about getting a 2.0 in wondernine. I really like my 45c, it's been a great gun.  Bought off another APSer, actually.

Got two M&P Gen 1 compacts in 9mm and 357sig. Wish they had maintained the Gen 1 compact form factor with the Gen 2 compacts but I guess they wanted it to be more like a Glock 19. IMHO a mistake.

Interesting.  I did not know they made them for the XD.  Not that I'd spend that much for one.  More lilkely spend for something else entirely.

Yeah, $430 goes a long way toward a dedicated rifle platform.  But it does add options for a 10mm or .45 ACP carbine.

.40 out of a 16" barrel.  Heads over to Ballistics by the Inch....

Getting off topic a bit: several of the cartridges in the graph decrease in m.v. at 16", then increase at 17".   Can anyone explain why?   Are different firearms being used at each specified barrel length?

If I recall their testing procedure correctly

Start with an 18" barrel
Shoot different loads through it
Cut an inch off the barrel
Repeat

With that new barrel shroud, if you added a drum magazine and squinted your eyes a bit, the new Ruger could almost pass for a modern iteration of a PPSh . . .

That makes sense.  Still doesn't explain the dip in m.v. at 16".  Maybe they just botched the cut at that length.
